This Tuesday, November 17 Angie Bielefeld will be speaking about Sofia Cavaletti, who wrote a beautiful religious education curriculum partly based on the Montessori format.

Cavalletti, along with her colleague Gianna Gobbi, began to work with children's religious formation in 1954. She was first inspired to understand children's spirituality after a discussion over a passage of scripture with several youngsters. The children's engagement and response to the discussion caused her to seek a deeper understanding of the relationship between God and the child. Cavalletti and Gobbi collaborated for more than 50 years, basing their approach on the principles of education developed by Maria Montessori

Angie Bielefeld is the founder and currently serves as the president of Casa Dei Bambini (The Children’s House), a nonprofit located in the heart of Wichita. They work to introduce children ages 3-12 years old to the love of the Good Shepherd through a common religious experience via the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

We will livestream this talk on the Eighth Day Institute page as well as on Zoom at 6:30. Questions for our speaker can be asked on Zoom or posted on Facebook. Convocation and lecture will begin at 6:30. You will need to download a free Zoom app to join the meeting to ask questions.

Hope to “see” you all on Tuesday!

10/19/2020

Greetings Wisdom seekers!
We have had two great gatherings outside in August and September, but, alas, this month is a bit too brisk to convene outside again.

Ann Bergen will be presenting on Edith Schaeffer, who, with her husband Francis, founded L'Abri, meaning "shelter" in Switzerland in 1955. The L'Abri communities are study centers in Europe, Asia and America where individuals have the opportunity to seek answers to honest questions about God and the significance of human life. L'Abri believes that Christianity speaks to all aspects of life.

Our proposal is to meet both on site, and live stream, to accommodate all comfort levels and individual health needs of all wanting to attend. We are opening the doors for an actual gathering this Tuesday, at which we will happily don our masks, dutifully space ourselves, sip whatever beverages we have brought for ourselves, and nibble an individually wrapped snack or two, as we listen to our presenter Anna. We will of course livestream the gathering as well. FYI: we can take questions and comments for the speaker via the live stream session, so feel free to ask, even if you are attending virtually!

We are still in byob and s mode (bring your own beverages and snacks), and will not be singing, but will otherwise have our convocation as usual, followed by our speaker.

Doors open at 6:30; convocation and lecture at 7:00.

We look forward to "seeing" you all tomorrow evening!
