📕The Summer reading spot challenge! 📚

6th grader, Emma Follin found an exciting place to sit down and read this Summer - the top of Pike’s Peak! While on vacation with her family she brought her book along.

Remember: We want to see ALL our parishioners, big and small, young and old reading this Summer! (You too teachers & staff!)

⭐️Summer Reading Spot Challenge:
Send in pictures of you reading in fun places:
* in a hammock
* on vacation
* poolside
* camping
* in a treehouse
* fishing, etc.

Wherever you are relaxing this Summer, bring along a book and have someone snap your picture. Then email it to Bethany at [email protected] or via messenger and we’ll share it on our social media to inspire others to read too!

Lo! the angel's food is given
To the pilgrim who has striven;
see the children's bread from heaven,
which on dogs may not be spent.

Truth the ancient types fulfilling,
Isaac bound, a victim willing,
Paschal lamb, its lifeblood spilling,
manna to the fathers sent.

Very bread, good shepherd, tend us,
Jesu, of your love befriend us,
You refresh us, you defend us,
Your eternal goodness send us
In the land of life to see.

You who all things can and know,
Who on earth such food bestow,
Grant us with your saints, though lowest,
Where the heav'nly feast you show,
Fellow heirs and guests to be. Amen. Alleluia.

For the past couple of years, Mrs. Wiesner has heard one book highly recommended at almost every educator training or class she’s attended. This book is "The Anxious Generation." The book talks about how as a society we have gone from a "play-based childhood to a phone-based childhood." The main idea of the book is “kids are over supervised and under exposed in the physical world, and kids are under-supervised and over-exposed in the digital world."
We would like to give you the opportunity to read this book and discuss it with other parents in small groups, in a book club! If enough people are interested, we will look into seeing about ordering the book in bulk for a better price.

Please use this link to let us know if you are interested in reading this book and/or doing a book club.

📕 Summer reading spot challenge! 📚
Our first reader is our Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Gaul! She sent in a photo of her reading during adoration this week. Thanks for setting such a good example for us!

Remember: We want to see ALL our parishioners, big and small, young and old reading this Summer! (You too teachers & staff!)

Why Sunday Mass is never optional

(Fr. Jarrod Lies, STL) – Some people ask, “Why can’t I praise God on my own?”

Of course, we can and should pray on our own. Personal prayer is essential. We should pray in our homes, in our cars, in our workplaces, while walking, while resting, and in the quiet places of the heart.

But Sunday Mass is different.

The answer is Trinitarian.

God Himself is a communion of Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Therefore, the God who is a communion of Persons (the Trinity) desires to be worshiped in a communion of persons (the Mass).

That is why Sunday Mass is never optional.

At Mass, we are not merely individuals praying near one another. We are the Body of Christ, gathered by the Father, united to the sacrifice of the Son, and filled with the Holy Spirit. We are being drawn into the very life of God.”

Driven by Pope Leo XIV’s teachings on service, compassion,
and justice, a generous anonymous donor has launched
The Pope Leo Village. This nationwide campaign invites
people of all backgrounds, including youth and faith
communities, to unite around the critical need for affordable
housing.

Kicking off locally this July, the movement in Sedgwick County will directly fund and support Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s
efforts to rehabilitate eight homes.
