We were blessed to have another great speaker and an amazing turnout today! Essex Sims shared a powerful testimony about his life and the experiences that helped shape the man he is today. He encouraged our young men to make wise decisions, think before they act, and understand that the choices they make today can impact their future.

A new group aimed at helping African American boys develop life and leadership skills is gaining traction in Wichita. KMUW’s Carla Eckels sat down with three of the men involved with The Brotherhood Project.

We are excited to announce that our next Brotherhood Project guest speaker will be Essex Sims. Essex is a poet, recording artist, entrepreneur, and community leader dedicated to turning pain into purpose. Through spoken word, music, and mentorship, he shares messages of hope, resilience, accountability, and transformation. As a violence prevention leader he is committed to creating opportunities for others. Essex uses his life experiences to inspire people to overcome adversity, break cycles, and build lasting legacies.
We will meet Saturday August 29th at 4pm.

Today was Blessing of the Backpacks at St Andrews MBC! 🎒🙏🏾
Our youth brought their backpacks to the altar as we gathered together in prayer, asking God to watch over them and bless them throughout the upcoming school year.
We prayed for safety, wisdom, success, confidence, protection, and a great school year. 📚✏️
As our young people head back to school, we want them to know that they are loved, supported, and covered in prayer. We’re excited to see all that God has in store for them this school year!

Tonight, Brother Holloway and Brother Spires had the privilege of attending Party With a Purpose at the Carl Brewer Recreation Center, an event created to bring together the youth of our community for an evening of fun, fellowship, and positive connections.
They proudly represented St Andrews Missionary Baptist Church and The Brotherhood Project, passing out church invitation cards, sharing information about The Brotherhood Project, and connecting with young men in the community.
They also had the opportunity to meet Mayor Woo and share with her the vision and mission of The Brotherhood Project. It was a great conversation about the importance of investing in and building relationships with our young people.
Throughout the evening, we interacted with the youth, played games, built relationships, and made meaningful connections. We are grateful for every young person who took the time to engage with us!
All of the young people in attendance were also entered into a gift card raffle.

We are thankful for opportunities like this to serve, connect, and build relationships with the next generation.
