Seeing the End of a Rainbow — While Being Aware of God’s Presence
One summer, many years ago, I was trout fishing at the headwaters of the Rio Grande in Colorado when a terrible rainstorm rolled through. After the storm had passed, I looked up and saw not one, but two rainbows arcing across the sky. As I stood there watching this brilliant spectacle of light, I suddenly noticed something I had never seen before — the end of a rainbow!
Yes, there it was, right beside me. Then, to my amazement, the area all around me began to fill with the light of that rainbow. It was the most glorious—note the “glow” in glorious—radiant, brilliant display I had ever witnessed. I had always heard that there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and indeed, there was an indescribable golden light shining all around me.
In that moment, a deep and tranquil sense of God’s peace washed over me — a small glimpse into Heaven itself — like a loving embrace from the Father of Light. The rainbow and its radiance weren’t just a flash of beauty that vanished; they lingered with me for several minutes that felt like eternity. As I stood there in awe, the edges of the colors seemed to dance up and down the rugged mountainside. God’s presence filled the valley and surrounded me in that golden, shimmering spectacle.
That day in the wilderness was surely a blessing that God shared with me. Over the years since, I have continued to see and feel His presence in many ways. And I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I’ll see many more glorious sights with Him — through my Savior, Jesus — for all eternity.
What about you?
