On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had taken effect, General Gordon Granger came to Texas and announced General Order No. 3: an “absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves.”

On this meaningful day, also called Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, and Jubilee Day; we reflect on the resilient faith of those who prayed for centuries that it would come. We celebrate and proclaim the good news of freedom in Jesus, our Jubilee!
