Freedom is on the other side of surrender.

Surrender isn’t easy.

It means letting go of control…
letting go of old patterns…
letting go of the things we once leaned on to cope.

But what if the very thing we’re holding onto… is the thing holding us back?

In recovery, surrender isn’t losing, it’s gaining.
It’s opening the door for God to step in and do what we couldn’t do on our own.

On the other side of surrender is peace.
On the other side is healing.
On the other side is freedom.

All it takes… is the willingness to open the door.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

Father God, help us to surrender the things we’ve been holding onto. Give us the courage to trust You fully, even when it feels uncomfortable. Remind us that true freedom is found in You. Lead us into healing, peace, and a new way of living. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You are not bound anymore.

For a long time, it may have felt like the chains would never break.

The habits…
The pain…
The patterns you kept going back to…

But here’s the truth:
Those chains don’t have the final say; God does.

Recovery isn’t about pretending the chains never existed…
It’s about celebrating that they’ve been broken.

You are no longer held by what once controlled you.
You are no longer defined by what once trapped you.

Freedom isn’t just possible
It’s already been made available to you.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

Father God, thank You for breaking the chains that once held us captive. Help us to walk in the freedom You’ve given us and not return to what You’ve already delivered us from. Give us strength to keep moving forward and faith to live in the new life You’ve called us to. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Proverbs 14:29 -Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

Taking a daily inventory is important to keep your recovery moving forward. The Daily Inventory lesson in Celebrate Recovery says:
“Through God’s guidance, we can make choices about the emotions that affect our thinking and actions. We start to take action - positive action - instead of constant reaction.”

We can all get better at taking a breath and seeking to understand before we react. It might take God’s strength, but who is up for trying that response today?
