Dear Artwalk Vendors,
As Artwalk continues to grow, we are working hard to build an event that is organized, safe, respectful, and centered on the Art in Artwalk.
Because of that growth, we need to be clear about vendor expectations moving forward.
Artwalk vendor participation is not automatic, guaranteed, or a right. Artwalk is a curated event managed by Potencia Projects with the goal of creating the best possible experience for artists, attendees, downtown businesses, and the community. Vendor acceptance will be based on what is best for Artwalk as a whole, including vendor type, product fit, event logistics, space availability, safety, compliance, prior conduct, and alignment with the arts-forward purpose of the event.
We appreciate the vendors who communicate respectfully, follow instructions, and help us make Artwalk better each month. However, we have had some vendors speak to staff in a rude, entitled, or disrespectful manner. That will not be allowed. Our staff and volunteers are managing street closures, ADA access, vendor placement, public safety, crowd flow, sanitation, food permits, business concerns, and day-of logistics. Disrespectful behavior toward staff, volunteers, other vendors, businesses, or attendees may affect a vendor’s ability to participate in future Artwalk events.
Moving forward, vendors will fall into one of the following categories:
Accepted Vendor
This means the vendor has been approved for the upcoming Artwalk. Accepted vendors are expected to follow all setup instructions, placement decisions, payment deadlines, permit requirements, load-in/load-out rules, and staff direction on the day of the event.
Conditional Vendor
This means the vendor may be allowed to participate, but with specific conditions. A vendor may be placed in this category because of past communication issues, late arrival, failure to follow setup instructions, misclassification, permit concerns, space issues, prior staff complaints, or other conduct that created unnecessary difficulty for the event team. Conditional vendors must show cooperation, professionalism, and full compliance with event rules to remain eligible for future Artwalk events.
Not Accepted Vendor
This means the vendor has not been approved for the upcoming Artwalk. A vendor may be declined because of product fit, duplication, lack of space, logistics, safety concerns, permit issues, prior conduct, failure to follow instructions, or because the vendor does not align with the direction of Artwalk. Prior attendance or agreements does not guarantee future acceptance.
Please understand that paying a vendor fee, attending a previous Artwalk, submitting an application, or showing up on event day does not guarantee a spot. Vendors who arrive without approval or attempt to set up without authorization may be asked to leave and may not be considered for future events.
Our goal is not to exclude people unnecessarily. Our goal is to protect the quality, safety, and purpose of Artwalk. This event is being rebuilt around art, culture, community, and a better organized downtown experience. That requires structure, cooperation, and mutual respect.
We are grateful for the vendors who understand that bigger crowds and a stronger event require stronger systems. Thank you to those who continue to work with us professionally as we build Artwalk into something Wichita Falls can be proud of.
Vendors applications for June Artwalk will OPEN on May 15.
Sincerely,
The Artwalk Team
