We are all sinners, whether it be murder or lies. Just because some of our sins incarcerate people and some don't, doesn't mean that some are worse sinners than others. We are all loved by Jesus and we can all love each other, even those that have hurt us.

8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
James 2:8-13

I can only imagine that a lot of people that have come to Jesus either before or during prison have these same thoughts.

Excerpt from Mikey's recent letter:
I found these writings from when I first arrived in prison. (Mikey came to love Jesus before prison. ❤️) We need to look at ourselves in the spiritual mirror - we have no right to judge our neighbor. Daily confess out loud what the Word of God says about us and pray personalized daily prayers, ask the Father to help us apply His word to our lives in every situation. Praying the Word of God is the most powerfully effective request of the Father that you could ever possibly pray. I want to begin to pray daily for the restoration of every familial style relationship which I deserted and/or destroyed (then he went on to list each of those people by name). [I want to pray] for all the people who disowned me. The Bible is 100% accurate, God cares deeply about all people who have been broken and dispossessed; no matter what we have done in the past, He calls us to Himself offering salvation and hope. Before we can move ahead to a better life and future we must face the disappointments and unfinished business of the past. I think I may be surprised to find pardon and release from the bo***ge of the past - take away those doubts Father!

Excerpt from Mikey's recent letter -
"This is my 2nd Kairos Experience and my first time to serve 'new pilgrims'. My prayer is soon I be on the outside to bring a Kairos Walk to other in prison from the 'free'."

Reminder - let us always remember our current freedom and want to serve others and give them experiences that were so beneficial to ourselves.

"I help because people helped me, Jesus wants me to and it opens a door to talk about Jesus; join me in asking He send men to me to talk about Him?!?!"

My friend said something very profound and thought-provoking just now about his walk with Christ and his struggles:

“I’ve had more sobriety dates than a hundred-year-old man has had birthdays.”

Consider the power and depth of his words, consider the choices it hides. Choosing God is like choosing sobriety, it doesn’t happen just once, it is a daily choice. It might be easier one day than another and it might feel absolutely impossible at times but it is a… daily…choice. Some days we don’t have the strength to make the choice so we have to rely on the strength of others. Some days we get to be the strength for others. God and sobriety is a choice that we get to keep making, even if we choose the wrong one repeatedly. One choice can begin or end a journey, a lifestyle, an addiction, or a relationship BUT sometimes, not always we get to choose again.

💚 Choose carefully, be the strength that someone else needs and repeat daily. 🩷

"Hello Free World,
My name is Michael and I am writing from a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison unit in west Texas. I am a 53 year old man who has been incarcerated 3 times prior to this sentence in the T.D.C.J. prison system and currently 3 years into a 20 year aggravated sentence. I have 5 felony convictions from 1989-2019 all in the state of Texas.
Despite being sober from alcohol since December 11,2015; after a lifetime of being controlled by drugs and alcohol I was arrested and convicted for an alleged crime committed in the past.
My current conviction and/or criminal history is not, however, what I am writing you about. What I am writing you about is the man who set me free and how, despite my current physical prison I live in I have for almost eight years and am today, more free than I have ever been in my entire 53 years of life!"

*This is a small portion of his first letter to the "free world". He is so inspired by the change of his heart that he wants to world to know his story. Like this page to hear more inspiring FIRO stories - From Inside (Prison Walls) Reaching Out (to the free world).
