We just released a new booklet that would be a great witnessing tool to reach your friends and famly with the Good News of the Gospel as we consider Jesus' words from the Sermon on the Mount (Mt.7:13-14). Check it out!

2Cor. 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
2Cor. 6:17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

One of the ways God has provided for us to be strong in our walks is to place us among the saints. Good fellowship, accountability, examples to follow and set for others, sharing of His words, prayer and support….Along with that of course comes this call from the Lord to remove ourselves from the undue influence of the world around us. As God’s people we have no basis for fellowship with the world. Certainly God desires we go to the world to share His love and the Gospel of His Son, but we should not go there and find ourselves unequally yoked. Think of it this way: one go out to the world for ministry and outreach but turn to the body for fellowship and love.

Who are your friends?

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,
(Psa. 92:1-2)

This psalm is introduced as a psalm for the Sabbath, that day of rest that God gave to His people and that rest today is found for us in Jesus. I love the simplicity and directness of the statements above and encourage you today to take them to heart. It is good to give thanks, sing praises, and to declare Your lovingkindness and Your faithfulness.

How much time in your daily life do you stop to be thankful to the Lord for all He has given to you? How about singing a song of praise just to Him from your heart? You don’t need a good voice, just a thankful heart. How often do you proclaim to yourself loudly and to others the love of God and His faithfulness? Life reduced to the essentials: thankfulness, worship and testimony. It is good for souls to do so!

Praying today you take them to heart

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
(Mt.6:16-18 NKJV)

In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus sets before us the basic conflict found between a religious man and a saved one. Religion basis its hopes on its performance, behavior, outward appearance and because of sin, finds much of its fulfillment in the applause and approval of others. The saved man is very different. As Jesus began with Matthew 5, he has realized he does not have what it takes to please God. Sin in his life has taken that ability away. So poor in spirit he seeks God’s help and meets Jesus at Calvary. Knowing Him he is saved and begins a lifelong love affair with His Lord whom He seeks to please in the power of the Holy Spirit now dwelling within him. His religious behavior is no longer for public consumption as we read above of the religious, but only to please His Father in heaven. It all comes down to our hearts. God declares them unclean because of sin and no amount of outward religion or whitewashing will make them clean. Jesus alone can give us a new heart. Until He does, our religion will be publically applauded but privately refused in heaven. Yet once my heart is pure, saved and washed by the sacrifice of Jesus, my religion is now a personal relationship that seeks to please only One!

Seeking His approval
