St. Mary's Place

St. Mary's Place St. Mary's Place is the Food Bank Ministry for St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Use the main gate entrance on Penn St for drive thru service.

Mary's Place was founded by Sister Inez in the aftermath of the 1987 Whittier Narrows Earthquake to help those affected by that tragic disaster. Our Ministry continues the legacy of Sister Inez today by assisting our brothers and sisters in need. Mary's Place is sustained by food and monetary donations from generous members of our community as well as food acquired from the Los Angeles Regional Fo

od Bank. Our Ministry is run by volunteers and serves around 400 families each month. Food donation collections are Mondays and Thursdays from 3 pm - 6 pm in Smith Hall and at Sunday Masses. Food distributions are every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 10 am - 12 pm. Walk up service is available at Smith Hall on Wardman St. Please note that during the holiday season, food distributions may be altered.

This past Saturday the local Whittier U.S. Post Office hosted their Annual “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive. Our Food Bank received truck loads of donations that will go to help feed our community.

We want to send a huge thank you to all in our community who donated food and the U.S. Post Office for organizing the food drive and the letter carriers who helped deliver the donations to our food bank.

We also want to say a big thank you to all our volunteers who helped deliver, organize and stock the donations in our food pantry. It took many hearts of kindness and helping hands to make this food drive a success. We Love our Community!
