The Friends Choir is having a FUN(D)RAISER after church on Sunday, September 27th. Join for a tropical lunch and entertainment! Suggested donation of $25 per adult and $15 per child/youth, with all proceeds going towards the Music Ministry projects. We look forward to having a great time with you there!

Walk for Peace 🕊️

Join us October 4 for a short program and one-mile walk through Uptown Whittier as we come together to promote inner calm, compassion, and nonviolence. 🤍 This is not a protest, but a peaceful gathering and a visible expression of our shared hope for a more peaceful world.

We’ll gather at First Friends Church at 13205 Philadelphia St. Whittier, where we’ll make signs together and hear a short program before walking safely through our neighborhood together. As we walk, we’ll reflect on the peace we hope to see in our own community and around the world. We will be a small but mighty expression of our hope and demand for peace everywhere 🌎

Wednesday's might be our favorite day of the week! Join us this tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm for a potluck picnic at Michigan Park, here in Whittier, for a great time of community and a delicious meal. Bring a dish to share, and utensils, and join in the fun!

Explore FUM's Summer Mission Focus, we will learn:

🌍Children learn where Samburu and Turkana are located and what daily life looks like for shepherd boys and girls.

🎒They will explore why some children cannot attend school and how scholarships provide safety, education, mentorship, and hope.

📚Two fictional stories—Lemayan in Samburu and Naisula in Turkana—help children connect with real challenges and possibilities.

💦Two Bible stories, David the Shepherd Boy and the Samaritan Woman at the Well, guide reflection on justice, courage, and compassion.

🥘Children taste simple Kenyan foods such as sukuma wiki, ugali, or goat stew.

🎨Activities include a game and crafts inspired by Samburu and Turkana daily life.

🎥Short videos show the landscape, culture, and daily routines of children in these regions.

Join us this Saturday, August 22 from 2-4pm for another Housing Advocacy Workshop presented by the Faith and Housing Coalition. We will continue to learn about our housing crisis in Los Angeles, learn about policy solutions, and practical ways we can support change. 🏠✝️ Whittier La Mirada Hope

Help us reach our goal! This summer, we are raising funds for Friends United Meeting and their Girl-Child Education and Shepherd Boy Scholarships. This money supports education access for children is Turkana and Samburu, Kenya. Our goal is to raise $1,000 and we would love your support 🌍❤️
