Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093334653468 For several years I did not say anything to my wife about what God had told me. Under Rev. Rev. Sis. McCall.

As recorded by Pastor Willie Davis in 2007)

“Approximately six and one-half years ago, God spoke to me and said “it is time for you to leave Second Baptist Church. I have a new work for you and you cannot do it where you are.” God told me to name this new work, ‘Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church’. I would meet people in the community where I lived and they would ask me to start a ministry. About four years later, I prayerfully told my wife what God had said to me six and one-half years previously. She readily agreed with God and said that she had felt the same thing, but did not share it with me because she felt that my heart was at Second Baptist Church. On February 26, 2007, at 1:00 a.m. in the morning I yielded to the Lord Jesus Christ. I told Him that I would do whatever He wanted me to do. I would go wherever He wanted me to go to make disciples for Him. For the next thirty-seven days, I prayed and fasted and asked God to speak to me and direct me. I received numerous phone calls and visits from concerned Saints who wanted me to start a new ministry right away. I had to wait for God to tell me where and when.”

On March 20, 2007, Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. was incorporated with the State of Nevada, in the City of Las Vegas. The first service was held in the home of Pastor and Sister Davis on April 8, 2007. Brother Willard Booth was the first person to join GMBC. Pastor Davis was diligent in this ministry and served as Senior Pastor until he was called home to be with the Lord in June 2009. GMBC is thankful to the Lord for this under-shepherd directed by God to organize Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church. After much prayer, the GMBC Board of Directors, led by the Lord to extend a “call” to the Reverend Dr. Larry Edmunds to serve as Interim Pastor. After seeking God’s will, Rev. Edmunds accepted, with the support of the congregation. In September 2009, Pastor Edmunds was installed as Interim Pastor. Pastor Edmunds served until April 17, 2016. Edmunds’ appointment, he established the Willie Davis Evangelistic Award in honor the late Rev. Dr. Willie Davis, organizing pastor. The first recipient of this award was Ms. Margaret Northington, who served as the first Evangelism Coordinator under Pastor Willie Davis. This award will be given each year during the church’s anniversary celebration services. Charles Watson was appointed “Minister-In-Charge” by the Board of Directors in April 2016, by the Board of Directors, as the church continued in prayer for a permanent Senior Pastor. GMBC ministries continue to expand. In the spring of 2010 the “Fellowship of Love Food Pantry” was established and thrives in service to the community. The Pastor’s Search Committee began their assignment of searching for a Senior Pastor. The committee’s first meeting was held on Saturday, October 3, 2015. The Committee went into intense prayer for 30 days. The Pastor’s Search Committee was chaired by Dr. Emma M. Shell and our Facilitator was Rev. Dr. James D. Peters, Jr., retired pastor of over 50 years. The Search Committee members were: Deacon David Yancy, Deacon Willard Booth, Sisters: Susan Peppers, Tamara Nash, and Loretta Bush; Rev. Charles Watson, Brothers: James T. Reynolds and Brian Taylor, Co-Chair. Loretta Bush could not continue to serve due to the illness of her husband and Sis. Dianna Booth was added. The search committee pledged to continue in prayer throughout the search and that they would seek God’s guidance on the process and ‘The Call’. The committee further pledged that they would remove themselves from all personal feelings and allow God to select the next pastor for GMBC. On Saturday, March 18, 2017, ‘The Call’ was offered to Rev. Charles A. McCall accepted ‘The Call’. On Sunday, March 19, 2017, a Special Call Meeting was held with the membership. GMBC membership voted 100% for Rev. McCall to become the Senior Pastor to succeed the late Rev. Dr. Willie Davis, organizing Pastor. Pastor-Elect McCall began his journey in June 2017. The congregation continues to grow both spiritually and physically seeking God’s direction in the work of ministry as this body of Believers, lives out the mandate of the Scriptures. Future plans are for expansion and a new church facility.

Good Morning! What an Awesome God we serve! Praise God for another opportunity to have our Early Morning Daily Devotional Bible Study. Today Friday August 11, 2023, we are going to study from 2 Chronicles 20:1-3 where it says:
"After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites came to wage war against Jehoshaphat. Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, 'A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar' (that is, En Gedi). Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah."**

Key Points:

The Context: After a period of peace and prosperity, King Jehoshaphat faces a grave threat to his kingdom. Three nations, the Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites, have formed a coalition and are coming to wage war against Judah.

The Warning: Messengers inform Jehoshaphat that the enemy army is vast and is advancing from the eastern region of Edom. They have already reached a place called Hazezon Tamar, which is near En Gedi, located on the western shores of the Dead Sea. The situation is serious and potentially overwhelming.

Jehoshaphat's Response: Upon hearing the alarming news, Jehoshaphat is alarmed, but he does not panic or rely solely on his military strength. Instead, he turns to seek divine guidance and intervention. He "resolved to inquire of the Lord," which means he decided to seek God's counsel and direction in dealing with the impending threat. Moreover, he takes this situation very seriously and calls for a national fast in Judah. Fasting is a spiritual practice often done to humble oneself, seek God's mercy, and demonstrate a genuine desire for His guidance and protection.

Applicatiion: When we are faced with a dire situation, we need to turn to the Lord for prayer. Sometimes we need to fast and pray to secure victory over our enemies.

Good Morning! Praise God for Jesus Christ; for He is Lord and Savior and the opportunity for our Early Morning Daily Devotional Bible Study. Today Thursday August 10, 2023, we will study Psalm 56:3 where it says: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."

This verse comes from Psalm 56, a prayer of David when he was facing difficult and fearful circumstances. In this psalm, David is seeking God's protection and deliverance from his enemies who were pursuing and oppressing him.

The verse conveys a powerful message of faith and reliance on God during times of fear and uncertainty. It shows David's confidence that, even in the face of danger or distress, he can find refuge and safety in God. It reflects a deep trust in God's character, power, and willingness to come to his aid in times of need.

For many readers, this verse serves as a reminder that turning to God in times of fear or trouble can provide comfort, strength, and a sense of security. It encourages believers to place their trust in God's care and guidance, knowing that He is capable of helping them overcome any challenges they may encounter.

Good Morning! All praises are due to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Today Wednesday August 9, 2023 we are going to return to Philippians 4, and we are going to look at verses six and seven. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Key points from the passage:

"Do not be anxious about anything": Paul urges the readers not to be overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, or worry. He acknowledges that life can bring many challenges and uncertainties, but he emphasizes that worry should not dominate their thoughts and emotions.

"But in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God": Instead of dwelling on anxiety, Paul advises the readers to turn to God in prayer and bring all their concerns and needs before Him. They can make their requests known to God with an attitude of thanksgiving, expressing gratitude for what God has already done and acknowledging His sovereignty.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus": When believers entrust their worries and fears to God through prayer, the peace of God, which surpasses human understanding, will guard their hearts and minds. This peace is not dependent on the external circumstances but comes from knowing that they are in a loving relationship with God through Christ Jesus.

Good Morning! God is good all the time and all the time, God is good. We praise God for another day for our Early Morning Daily Devotional Bible Study. Today Tuesday August 8, 2023, we are going to study from Philippians 4:6 where the Apostle Paul says: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

The verse outlines three important elements of prayer:

Prayer: This refers to the act of communicating with God, laying our concerns before Him, and seeking His guidance, comfort, and intervention.

Petition: Petition means making specific requests or supplications to God. It involves bringing our needs, desires, and troubles before God, acknowledging our dependence on Him.

Thanksgiving: The verse encourages believers to approach God with gratitude, thanking Him for His past blessings and expressing trust in His future provision. Gratitude helps shift our focus from worries to the goodness of God and His faithfulness.

By following this advice, Christians are encouraged to replace anxiety and fear with faith and trust in God's loving care. It's a reminder that we don't need to bear our burdens alone but can rely on God's support through prayer and thanksgiving. This verse promotes a positive outlook on life and encourages believers to cultivate a relationship of trust and communication with their Creator.
