Did You Know….

In the first half of the 1900s, most Whiting residents were either born in another country or were children of immigrants? The majority of those were from Slovakia.

This 1943 photo shows the Slovak Home. Its second floor is now gone, but it was once the site of thousands of gatherings, including wedding celebrations, concerts, and even basketball games.
