Below is yesterday’s worship service at Calabash. I led that service as our pastor was officiating a wedding out of state.

Yesterday evening, the Whiteville Worshipping Community met for its weekly gathering. Our topic of conversation was “disciplining.”

Disciplining is different than witnessing and requires much more relational commitment than witnessing. Jesus told us to make disciples (not witnesses). Oh, disciples will witness, but disciples will do much more than witness. They will invest time in the person with whom they have shared Christ.

A disciple is an apprentice (a learner) and by the disciple’s example, the disciple teaches that person in whom they have invested their effort and time how to be an apprentice/learner like him or her.

The Apostle Paul said it well- read Philippians 3:8-17. Paul said, “Imitate me.” Can we say to others “imitate me?” In as much as we are striving to learn from Jesus, we should be able to say that.

The Whiteville Worshipping Community is a “micro expression of church and is a missional outreach of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church. The WWC is led by CLP Annelle Waldron.

Statement of Purpose
The purpose of our micro expression of church is to provide opportunities for “in home worship and fellowship” with other believers in Jesus Christ, and to provide a safe environment for folks who are not yet believers to learn more about Jesus and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We see ourselves as “disciples making disciples” for the kingdom of God. Above all else, that is our purpose.

The WWC has been in existence since February of 2021. Our worshippers are from many different Christian backgrounds and most are members of a church. However, it is not necessary that you be affiliated with a church to come gather with us to learn more about Jesus.

We began as a gathering of 10 to 20 worshippers ranging in age from teens to retirees, with all ages between represented. Originally, our weekly gatherings began at 6 p.m. on Sunday with a time for refreshments and fellowship followed by prayer requests, prayers, testimonies, and Bible Studies, with rich discussion by all who are gathered. Also, originally, all ages met together for worship and study, and as the numbers increased, the young people began meeting at 5 p.m. for their own time of worship, joining the arriving older adults at 6 p.m. for refreshments and fellowship. Then, at 6:30 the older adults gathered for worship. Presently, the younger group are not meeting, and we are considering going back to one meeting time at 6 p.m. for all. I will update as decisions are made concerning the youth program.

If you live in the Whiteville area, you are invited to join us at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening. We meet at the home of Rob and Annelle Waldron, at 73 Greenwood Road, Whiteville, NC.

The page for the Whiteville Worshipping Community has been inactive for some time. This post is for the purpose of updating our followers on activities recently.

The Whiteville Worshipping Community continues to meet on Sunday even at 6 p.m. for refreshments and fellowship at the home of Rob and Annelle Waldron. After spending time with one another, we settle down to worship as we engage with Scripture. Right now, we are following a guided study on the book of Genesis. We have time for prayer requests and sharing of needs, and time for prayer.

We would love to have you come worship with us. The welcome mat will be out to receive you!

Dear WWC, its the end of 2022, and I have been blessed by each of you this year, I thank you (17 of you!!!) for attending the Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service and fellowship afterwards. What a blessing you all are!
Additionally, tomorrow is January 1, 2023. I have so many prayers and petitions on your behalf for this coming year. Not all of us are well, and I pray for healing. Some are awaiting answers, some awaiting surgery, some praying God will do what no physician has been able to do and heal you. Some are praying for that lost loved one to finally surrender their life to Jesus Christ.
We pray expectantly, as we have been studying about. We pray with "shameless audacity" (see Luke 11 parable). We pray believing that God is in fact the Great Physician and that "by His stripes we are healed."
May 2023 be a year for drawing closer to God than we ever have been before. May 2023 be a year when we challenge each other to be brave enough to witness in a world that does not speak kindly of Christians. May we draw strength from each other as we resolve together to follow God, expressing gratitude for Jesus and the salvation that is ours at His expense - even His life.
I hope to see you tomorrow evening - young people at 5 and others at 6. Refreshments at 6 p.m. You may certainly bring your "left over" goodies to share. Happy New Year to you all!!!

Last night,oh so many years ago, a miracle happened. The promised Messiah was born. The One who was to come and be the salvation of the world was born in the most unlikely place and laid in a feeding trough. And most did not notice! Today we celebrate that event, and still many do not notice.
He came to be light and we are called children of light. As such, let us make it a goal to find out how and where we are to shine, because, as Scripture says, no one lights a candle and then hides it!
