The sacred season of Lent begins one week from today. If you’re looking for an Imposition of Ashes Liturgy, the people of Grace/Christ the King invite you to join in one of these options.

During the Imposition of Ashes Liturgy at noon, we’ll be reminded of the words our Lord spoke to Adam, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (Genisis 3:19). We’ll each leave that service with an ash cross on our forehead. These blessed ashes, by the way, are traditionally the burnt remnants of the palms used to celebrate Palm Sunday, last year.

If you aren’t able to attend the service, but would like to receive ashes and a blessing, we’ll be offering Ashes to Go from 12:45pm - 1:45pm. Simply pull through our driveway at 105 South Madison Street in Whiteville.

ALL ARE WELCOME.

Fisher, who says her strengths are in congregational development and listening, will also be the Episcopal Church’s third openly le***an bishop.

On the third ballot, the Convention of the Diocese of East Carolina elected the Rev. Sarah Fisher to be our 9th Bishop! Congratulations to Sarah and our thanks to Brian and Caleb who also said "yes" to being nominees!

For information about Bishop-Elect Sarah and to find links to the videos of our livestreaming of our 142nd Convention, please click on the following link: https://www.diocese-eastcarolina.org/east-carolinas-bishop-search/.

Please hold Sarah and Mandy in your prayers as they begin the transition to East Carolina, a journey that will culminate in Sarah's ordination as bishop on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Many thanks to all of those who worked hard to organize and lead our time together at Convention!

We are excited to announce the release of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina’s profile as we begin the search for our ninth bishop. This profile is the result of months of listening, prayer, and discernment led by a devoted Search Committee representing voices from across our diocese.

Inside, you’ll find a clear and honest portrait of our community — who we are, where we’ve been, and where we believe God is calling us. We invite you to read the profile, reflect on the journey ahead, and share it with anyone who may feel called to this sacred work.
