How Palmyra is finding 'community' after Hill Cumorah Pageant's end – Church News

When the Hill Cumorah Pageant ended in 2021, many local Church members felt disconnected from the community, their leaders said. So they were recently excited to organize a “5K Restoration Run” that took participants past sites like the Sacred Grove and the Smith family farm.

Subject: Palmyra 5k Restoration Run / 1 Mile Walk, Saturday, September 14th, 9:00am

To all members of the Utica New York Stake:
On Saturday, September 14th, 9:00am, the Palmyra New York Stake will be hosting the inaugural 5k Restoration Run / 1 Mile Walk in Palmyra, New York, which will be run as part of the new Palmyra Harvest on the Canal community festival.

The 5K course will start at the Palmyra Community Center, adjacent to the Wayne County fairgrounds and pass by the Joseph Smith Family Farm/Sacred Grove, the Palmyra Temple and the Palmyra stake center meetinghouse. The run will be chip-timed, with T-shirts (register by this Tuesday, August 27th to be guaranteed a T-shirt), awards and refueling snacks at the finish. All proceeds from the race/walk will be donated to benefit local charities.

Find attached a flyer with details on the 5k run / 1 mile walk that can be used in text, email, or hard copy announcements and invitations to friends as well.

The Restoration Run is held annually each September in Palmyra NY. It is part of the Harvest on the Canal festival. It includes a 5k run and a 1 Mile walk.

Utica Stake Youth Activity at the Sagatis family farm. There were camels, kangaroos, wallabies, emus, goats and sheep plus a great swimming pool with slides. The youth were taught about the struggles some of the animals have had and how we are all similar in our own need to be loved, rescued and protected.
