Thursday Praise Christmas Edition! Since about a week or two before Thanksgiving this year Hurley has been jamming to WayFM’s Christmas music honestly 24-7. This song right here: “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by Casting Crowns, is a great reminder of God’s mission through Christ, Peace on Earth. In order for that to happen, God created the opportunity to save us and purify our hearts. We are hopeful. We know peace in this life because of the Holy Spirit and we know that Christ will Return to create long term peace on Earth!

I got surprised this morning when I started the day with needing a patch in a tire and it became a need for two new tires. Honestly, I sat down in the lobby in a bit of a bad mood about forking over that amount of cash for what I expected to be a simple patch job.

Then the LORD tugged on my heart to stop feeling sorry for myself and to take inventory of my blessings. We have this family car up and running in the perfect timing to welcome our new daughter into the world, the heater works, and we had enough money in our account to pay for these tires right now. Those are three blessings out of an uncountable amount of blessings God continuously gives us.

After this moment of accountability, I looked up and immediately saw this poster of a wheel. Which started as a source of frustration, but now I see a star in the image. I think about the Wisemen (Kings, Magi, or whatever other titles we give these men.) These guys start traveling focused on a singular Star with a singular purpose: find the King of Kings.

I think this is a great Opportunity for this Christmas season to remain focused on, what John describes in the beginning of his Gospel, the One who brings Light and Life into the world.
