This coming Sunday, 8/11: we will be meeting in person at the Zendo, 9:00 to 11:30 am, Gendo will be joining on Zoom.
All Sundays. (Thanks to Carole Shindo Dempsey) On Sunday mornings, sangha members are invited to participate in supportive roles, an opportunity to deepen your own practice and to benefit the entire group. Roles include the Shoji, who acts as host, serving tea and making sure all practitioners have what they need, such as chant books and a suitable seat; the Jikijitsu, who keeps us on schedule using bells and clappers; the densu, who leads our chants; and the Shoden (drummer) who hits the han at the start of practice and the makugyo to set the rhythm for chanting. Gendo invites sangha members to learn and practice these roles by arriving early (8:45) Sunday mornings for instruction and to help set up the Zendo . No need to sign up in advance. Just show up.
