Thank you to WCT past presidents Andy Farber and Rochelle Stolzenberg for joining the Westchester Jewish community’s Holocaust Torah Procession at the Annual Westchester Countywide Yom Hashoah Holocaust Commemoration. Our Shoah scroll stood proudly in their arms, honoring the people of Rakovnik, who once read from it before they were murdered in the Holocaust. They live on in us.

Wow! 15 WCT teens (plus Rabbi Mara, Alex and Matthew) made a huge impact this weekend lobbying our members of Congress in Washington DC. We were there with 500 Reform teens from around the US at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. Our kids lobbied on mental health support in schools, assault rifle bans, combatting antisemitism, environmental justice and supporting LGBTQ rights. We visited the Holocaust Museum, took in a planetarium show at the Air and Space Museum, held havdalah at the Jefferson Memorial and ate late night milkshakes. Thank you to Steve’s H.O.P.E. for making it possible!

Our Jewish identities are impacted by more than Torah. The diversity - and division - in our broader communal spaces challenges our self-perceptions. Join us Sun, Nov 9, 1-5 pm for an afternoon of learning, discussion, questions, answers, and a light nosh. Keynote address by Julian Voloj, author of "Hyphen" and Executive Director of Be’chol Lashon, a Jewish diversity advocacy group. Participants will choose from breakout sessions led by local leaders. Join Woodlands Community Temple for our Yom Kippur Family Service. Services are specially prepared to engage families with children (grades 6 and below) as well as members of the community. There is singing, laughter, and the special participation of our temple teens! High Holy Day Family Services are free and open to the community

The High Holy Days are rapidly approaching, and we are looking forward to being back together in the tent for services. We return with our clergy and welcome the many new members of our temple community, along with all of the familiar faces.

Rabbi Mara, Cantor Jenna and Dir. of Congregational Learning Sarah had a blast spending Family Shabbat at Sprout Westchester, a Young Judaea Day Camp (along with the WCT camper and staff contingent and their parents!).
