Zechariah 4:6
“…Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.”
It is a fact that when we live by faith and exercise it, there will be activity, action, and movement, as well as strong opposition, friction, and drama. As unpleasant as it is, the latter is evidence of possessing a bold faith.

Bold faith doesn’t trust in faith for faith’s sake, nor does it conjure up something mystic and mindless. This type of faith rests in the Lord Jesus Christ and the promises of His Word, the very thing that causes friction in the world if it’s lived out through us. The antithesis of this is a graveyard.

Serene and quiet graveyards are places of little motion or action. Words spoken there are reduced to whispers. It’s peaceful and tranquil because the residents are dead.

Now, picture a massive manufacturing plant whose goods are distributed worldwide. The assembly and delivery of its product—the very purpose for its existence—relies on its gears and machinery. Yet, where there is movement, friction will result, and if oil is lacking, whether missing entirely or running low, industry can grind to a halt. Lubrication is essential.

The same is true when the exercise of bold faith generates friction among those around us and the world at large. We need the oil of the Holy Spirit to keep us in motion, accomplishing the things of God. If we, as Christians, are to be alive and effective, we must make sure to keep our oil topped off so that the gears of our faith can produce what God has ordained for us.
