Proud to spend time in Reno supporting the installation of the Liberty Dogs statue, an important civic project that honors service, sacrifice, and the extraordinary bond between working dogs and their handlers.

My sincere thanks to Janey, Geoff, and Paula Slater for their leadership, trust, and commitment to seeing this project through with care and purpose. Collaborative efforts like this are what make lasting civic memorials possible. Reno continues to impress! Not only for its welcoming people and strong community pride, but also for its setting. With the Sierra Nevada as a backdrop and the remarkable beauty of Lake Tahoe just beyond, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting region for a project that reflects strength, loyalty, and endurance.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Liberty Dogs Project and to be part of something that will stand for generations.

Our Story

Nate Boswell and partner Jack Colpolits founded Boswell Monuments in 1875 on South Chestnut Street in Barnesville, OH. Nate Boswell’s son William joined the business in 1919 when he returned from World War I, and his other son James joined the company in 1925.

In 1957 W. Kirk Boughner purchased a one third interest in the company and he became majority owner in 1960 when James Boswell retired. William Boswell continued with the company until his retirement in 1965.

In 1970 Boswell Monuments expanded by opening a new state of the art manufacturing facility and memorial display showroom in Barnesville. In 1974 Boswell Monuments opened a new location in Bridgeport, OH and in 1975 Kirk’s wife Lynne Green Boughner joined Kirk in the business.
