Happy Independence Day and 250th anniversary of the United States of America. As we reflect on our nation’s history and look towards the future that we hope to build for it, let us pray:

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our
heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove
ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will.
Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and
pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;
from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend
our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes
brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue
with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust
the authority of government, that there may be justice and
peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we
may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth.
In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness,
and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail;
all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Friendly reminder! Tomorrow night (Friday, June 26th) at Pioneer Memorial Hall at 7pm is our annual Hall fundraiser. Join us for a wonderful concert by Sourdough Slim with Robert Armstrong!

Free to attend, but we are asking for a $20 donation. All proceeds support our historic Hall!! Free ice cream at intermission.

Dear Friends,

The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California was heartbroken to hear of the shooting that took place in Chico, CA last night and claimed the lines of two innocent victims. We grieve for the deaths of Cody and Robert and their friends and family. We praise the courage of the responders who shielded those inside the library and prevented additional tragedy.

Tonight, we will be gathering at 7:00pm at St. John's, Chico to pray, to support one another, to be spiritually fed in these moments of grief. For those outside of Chico, please join with us as we offer up the following prayer:

A Simple Gesture pick up at Grace Church today. Five overflowing bags!
All of these goods will be combined with hundreds of green bags from all over Yuba and Sutter counties and will go to local programs that serve the food insecure. Much of the total bounty will go to FoodShare, the south Yuba program that provides groceries on most Monday mornings, 9:30-10:30.
Contact us for info on FoodShare or to join A Simple Gesture to donate a green bag every 2 months.
