Good Friday was a busy day at St. John’s. The Sunday School classes took it upon themselves to resurrect the Prayer Garden. Thanks to all the young and old who helped make the garden ready and to all who helped with the planting. We wish to also thank Thrivent for the money dedicated to church beautification and to Kalina’s Nursery in Wharton and DSG Nursery in El Campo for their generous donations of flowers for our Prayer Garden. Please feel free to enjoy its solitude and beauty.

The day has finally come for the Grand Reopening of the Parish Hall at St. John’s. We praise the Lord for everyone’s prayerful support in so many ways. A special thank you to Weida Gadeke for her tireless efforts in seeing this project to its completion. It is our prayer this newly renovated building continues to help in our mission of spreading God’s Love to our church family and our community.

Flooding Update:
At this time, we are being informed that the affected areas are still in the search and recovery stage. Volunteer teams are not allowed in the regions. The best way to help is to donate at https://txlcms.org/congregations/disaster-relief/

Your generosity makes a huge difference! It provides the following:

Church Workers – direct aid to pastors, teachers, and staff who have been personally affected by the flooding. This includes help with temporary housing, basic living expenses, and home repairs.

Congregations – help cover the costs of cleanup, repairs, and replacement of essentials, allowing these ministries to continue serving their communities.

As funds allow, assistance is provided to members of LCMS congregations who are working to recover from this disaster.

Do not lose hope! God provides strength and healing.

Today at True North VBS we soared like eagles that at one time nearly were hopelessly extinct! It reminded us how hopeless Jesus friends were as they watched him crucified. We learned that “When we are hopeless we can Trust Jesus”. After 3 days in the tomb he rose from the dead JUST like he said he would. Tomorrow is our last day for VBS. Please join us at 11:30am for our closing program in the Sanctuary. A pizza party will follow the closing program in the Fellowship Hall

We at St. John’s welcomed about 20 students to our True North-Trusting Jesus in a Wild World 2025 VBS. We are learning that when we Wonder, when we
Are Alone, when we are Powerless, when we Need Hope and when we Need Help, we can Trust Jesus! We are also gathering toiletries and non perishable food items for our local SHARE. Jesus is our True North! We must always keep our eyes on Him so we do not loose our way.

Today at St. John’s we welcomed Becky and Mark Jungklaus. Becky is currently serving as Deaf Deaconess in the Southeast Area of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Did you know that 98% of the 100 million deaf people in the world are unchurched. They do not know Jesus as their Savior.
DeafOutreach.org trains and equips people to spread God’s Kingdom among the deaf community.

We at St. John’s wish to thank Becky and Mark Jungklaus for the selfless work they are doing and for sharing this much needed mission with us.
