Welcome! As our community settles into the school, Jesus, our Teacher, helps us become his disciples, students, in the world. Being God's
children, we hear, feel, and experience hurt.
Jesus responds with compassion, sitting us
down and feeding us.
Matthew 14:13-21(NRSVUE)
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking
the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women
and children.

This month Jesus has partnered us in prayer with students and school servants. Jesus is always putting together lives. Sunday, we are grateful for Paula Ford, the Executive Director of Kingsway Prison and Family Outreach Ministry to share how the Holy Spirit partners people impacted by incarceration. Kingsway is "a non-profit organization with a mission ministering through the heart of Jesus to the broken hearts of those
impacted by the criminal justice system, both those incarcerated and re-entering and their families." We are so grateful!
Matthew 25:34-40 (NRSVUE)
Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited me.’ 37 Then the
righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.’

School is in session and God is lassoing our
lives together to pray, support, and encourage our students and school servants by becoming prayer partners. What God is doing through Weyers Cave United Methodist Church is what God has always done--look back and see God's wagon train of lives traveling together! On Sunday, the Pony Express delivers part of an old letter between a Pastor and a small town. Howdy Partner--God has great news for us and our neighbors!

Colossians 1:3-12 (The Message)
Our prayers for you are always spilling over into
thanksgivings. We can’t quit thanking God our Father and Jesus our Messiah for you! We keep getting reports on your steady faith in Christ, our Jesus, and the love you continuously extend to all Christians. The lines of purpose in your lives never grow slack, tightly tied as they are to your future in heaven, kept taut by hope. The Message is as true among you today as when you first
heard it. It doesn’t diminish or weaken over time. It’s the same all over the world. The Message bears fruit and gets larger and stronger, just as it has in you. From the very first day you heard and recognized the truth of what God is doing, you’ve been hungry for more... Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so
acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in
which God works. We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-
strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.

Howdy Partner! As Augusta County
schools settle into their new year and Rockingham County gets ready to begin, God is lassoing our lives together to pray, support, and encourage one another. This month prayer partners from the Bible are helping us partner up
with students and school servants! God blesses our lives through Elizabeth and Mary. They bring us joy and blessings that God's ways are cattywampus from the the world's ways! Thank you for blessing us!
Luke 1:39-45, (The Message)
39 In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country, 40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit 42 and exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? 44 For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting,
the child in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.”
