We received this powerful and humbling framed letter today from our long-term partner in Letcher County, Kentucky, H.O.M.E.S. Inc. We partnered with them for just shy of 2 years in response to the destructive 2022 flooding event.

If you are having Vacation Bible School, we have the following at the district office. About 4 cases of the little wheelbarrows, hundreds of the Charms to attach to crocs, and a few dozen of the insect/fishnet. Yours for the asking.

This is just one example of what the auction proceeds empower in communities that are devastated by disaster.

Nineteen months ago, the Gilberts lost their home in Hurricane Helene. Since then, they’ve been living in a camper, waiting for the chance to start again.

Yesterday, they watched the walls of their new home go up.

Mrs. Gilbert’s joy in this moment is hard to put into words. This photo doesn’t quite capture it, but if you could have seen her smile as she stepped into what will soon be her bedroom, looking out the window of her future home, you’d understand exactly why this work matters.

If all goes as planned, the Gilberts will be home in June.
