A Wewa Breeze article on December 25, 1925 acknowledged the donation of electric lights in St. John's Episcopal Church by Mr. John D. Pirrong. This donation made evening services possible. While we hoped to be worshipping in the church by Christmas Eve, it seems the wait will be longer for our first community service. Please pray for the successful completion of the renovation.

Thanks to Ann Johnson who reminded everyone about the Historical Society's goal to purchase a historical marker to honor the history of the Carpenter Gothic church that is home to First Presbyterian, and formerly St. John the Baptist Episcopal. This coming Saturday, we will participate with St. John's for a special blessing of the Pets' Day. Bring a pet and join us on Oct. 4th at 10:30 Central.

We are preserving the historic church and creating openings for accessibility. A ramp will be under construction this week to connect with the bell tower door. The interior door-way from the bell tower has been widened for wheelchairs and walkers. Damaged interior panelling will be stained to match the original. Sunday services continue in the Fellowship Hall at 11 am until the sanctuary is complete and exterior painting is finished.

Worship today is shared with First United Methodist Church in their Fellowship Hall at 11. Prayers for our city, our country and the world as we reflect on scripture and sing praises to God. As we approach the 4th of July, we give thanks for all who serve in our nations' military, as we also pray for peace in the Middle East.
