Have you ever caught yourself waiting for the season where everything finally settles down?

Here's what Solomon says: there's a time for everything. Weeping and laughing. Mourning and dancing. Not one or the other — both, in every season.

So how do we find joy in the life we're actually living right now? Not the one we had. Not the one we're hoping for. This one.

For the believer, all of life is sacred.

Your work. Your kids. Your Tuesday. The ordinary hours you assumed didn't count — God is at work in every one of them.

So here's the rhythm we're built for:

We gather to experience the presence of God and to be encouraged. We scatter to join Jesus in building His family in the everyday stuff of life.

We need both. If we gather only, we lose our purpose. If we scatter only, we lose our power and become discouraged.

This Sunday we finish Practicing the Way — "Formed for His Mission," 2 Corinthians 5.

We are better, when we all come together for His mission.

Suffering is inevitable. And it is going to change you. For Good or Bad.

That's not the question. The question is what it's changing you into.

I've watched people walk through terrible things and come out the other side softer, wiser, more like Jesus than they'd ever been. And I've watched people walk through the same kind of thing and come out hard. Suspicious. Offended at God and everyone standing near them. Same pain. Two completely different fruit.

Here's what settles it for me. The man in the painting went first. He learned obedience through what He suffered — and He came out the other side with joy in front of Him. Whatever He's asking us to walk through, He has already walked.

This Sunday we're in Romans 5:1-5 — suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, character produces hope. We're going to talk about how that actually happens, and why it sometimes doesn't happen.

Make plans tonight to be in Service in the morning.

Read the passage before you come. The Holy Spirit will start prepping your heart before service even starts.

Ladies event coming up!

YES, YOU. You have been prayed for. 👆

Before the first bell rang this morning, this crew from The Assembly and Living Water Church walked the halls of the elementary and the JH/HS buildings and prayed.

We prayed over every backpack we packed before we gave it away. Then we prayed over classrooms, hallways, offices, and lockers.

Students — we prayed you'd be courageous, that you'd be known, that you would be protected, and that this would be a good year.

Teachers — we prayed for patience, for strength, and for the moments that remind you why you do this.

Administration - we prayed for wisdom and discernment as you you lead leaders.

Faculty, staff, bus drivers, cooks, custodians — we prayed that you know how valuable your service is! May you sense God’s purpose in everything you do.

Parents — we prayed for you as you sent them out the door this morning.

So if you're walking into a Wetumka school building today, we want you to know: somebody stood in that hallway and asked God to watch over you.

You are not doing this alone. Have a great year, Chieftains!
