But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecut...

This Sunday, I will be continuing in my sermon series called "Meeting Jesus," in which we are learning from the stories of various people who interacted with Jesus in Luke's gospel. We will be in Luke 10:38-42, a story about Jesus at the home of Mary & Martha that has so much to say to us in our busy and distracted day. I encourage you to read the passage ahead of time and to join us at NewLife. We all know the story of the Good Samaritan, right? But this Sunday, we discovered it's so much more than a simple lesson about being nice to people.

The truth hit hard: God's standard for love is impossibly high. Love everyone—even your enemies—with sacrificial, costly love. But here's the beautiful twist: we're not the hero of this story. We're the one beaten and left for dead on the road. And Jesus? He's the Good Samaritan who rescued us when we were His enemies, paying the ultimate cost on the cross.

This isn't about trying harder to earn God's favor. It's about being transformed by the extravagant love Jesus showed us—then going out to love others the same way. Not from guilt or obligation, but because we've been saved by grace.

What if the smallest act of kindness you show this week—even a cup of cold water—matters eternally? Because it does.

In case you missed it or want to hear it again, here is this past Sunday’s sermon, based upon Luke 10:25-37.

In the nineteenth sermon of the sermon series “Meeting Jesus”, we looked at Luke 10:25-37, which shows us that Jesus is the true Good Samaritan, who came to rescue us when we were enemies of God.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:14–15) One of my favorite C...

What if the cure for the greatest crisis facing humanity was in your hands—would you share it?

This week we explored Luke 10:1-24, where Jesus sends out 72 disciples as His ambassadors into a world that's ripe for harvest. Their mission? To proclaim that the Kingdom of God has come near. And here's the truth: that same mission is ours today.

Jesus didn't mince words. He made it clear that our eternal destiny depends on how we respond to Him. Not our good deeds. Not our intentions. But faith in the One who died for our sins and rose again. As Penn Jillette (an atheist) once said: "How much do you have to hate somebody to believe eternal life is possible and not tell them that?"

There's great joy in leading people to Christ, but even greater joy in knowing that your name is written in heaven. Who has God placed on your heart to share the gospel with today?
