We were saddened to hear about the loss of Jake Rader, South Decatur Elementary School assistant principal. We realize that many children and families will be grieving, struggling to understand and asking questions. We wanted to share a few scriptures with you and an article from Focus on the Family that gives some wonderful advice for parents. If you or your children need to talk more, please reach out to us. We're praying for our families and the South Decatur community.

What is grief and how do you talk to your kids about it? Though discussing grief can be hard, it's important to guide your kids through it.

Thursday at VBS was pretty bright, as we dressed in neon and were ready to glow! We learned today that Jesus is the proven Son of God. Our future is bright because Jesus is alive! We are getting close to meeting our goal for Operation Christmas Child…only 4 more lights to turn on! We also started practicing for our Friday night program!

We hope you’ll join us Friday morning from 8:30-11:30 for our last morning of VBS, Friday night for our program and Glow Party at 6:30, and Sunday morning as we share during our 9:30 service!

Day 3 of VBS was filled with superheroes! We learned that while they may have super powers, there is someone more powerful than any super hero ever could be. That’s Jesus, the powerful Son of God! We have 2 more days of fun. We’d love to have your child join us! Doors open at 8 and VBS runs from 8:30-11:30!

Day 2 of VBS, we started by singing Happy Birthday to Mallory. Then we learned that unlike our mismatched, imperfect, silly socks, there is someone who is PERFECT…Jesus, the perfect Son of God! We played more games, enjoyed some cookies, created beautiful crafts to reflect the light, and brought enough offering to fill 6 boxes for Operation Christmas Child! Join us tomorrow from 8:30-11:30 as we continue to learn that Jesus is the Light!

Day 1 of VBS is in the books! We worshipped, studied our bibles, played games, painted, ate snacks and gave our offering to support Operation Christmas Child, all while learning that Jesus is the PROMISED Son of God. We’d love for your 3 year old through incoming 6th grader to join us tomorrow! 8:30-11:30, doors open at 8am.

Doors open at 8am tomorrow morning and VBS runs from 8:30-11:30. 3 year olds through those entering 6th grade can register at the door!
