So I shared this post with our Young adults and got a few likes. This applies to everybody so thought I would post it again for you all to weigh in on. And no funny jokes about taking 12 years to rebuild an engine....
I was given a free gift, a 1968 Mustang. As i first started to work on it, I had no clue what the engine parts did or what they were called. So I got a small engine block book (with lots of pictures) to show me how to rebuild it so that it will run one day. I am still working on it 12 years later and hope to start that engine this summer.
You all were given a free gift too, salvation through Jesus Christ. As a Christian, you should get yourself a book (THE BIBLE) and do what it says. That is how you will honor God better. Here is the scripture verse to support my analogy: James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
So in order to do what it says, you have to read the bible. Not "cliff notes" but actually sit down, pray, then read, then explore other passages that relate, search other resources to give you a better understanding of the time and circumstances, and then say what you got out of the verses you studied. So the acronym is P.R.E.S.S

Bottom line, God's word will help you navigate through life. Read the bible.

Men, as I study Ephesians, this passage spoke to me to put off our old way of life and live a new life for Christ: Ephesians 4:17-24
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

318 Men's prayer breakfast is tomorrow from 8-10 down in the Fellowship hall at Westminster Baptist Church.

Come out and join our 318 Men's Ministry bible study on Thursday nights from 7-8:30. We are in the book of ACTS. As a disciple of Jesus, we are to hold on to his teachings which means we need to read God's word.

John 8:31-32
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

As Christmas is upon us, the 318 ministry will be taking a break until our Jan 4 bible study kicks back up again

On January 6 2018 we will host our first men's prayer breakfast of the new year.

Where has the time gone? We are all so busy and now that the holiday season is upon us, our available time will be limited.
Our 318 Men's Ministry Thursday bible study has been studying from the book of Acts. We just finished chapter 3 and will not meet next Thursday (Thanksgiving). We will pick back up on November 30, 2017 with Acts Chapter 4. All are welcome to come and join us. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you all. (I know I am way early).

Come join our 318 men's ministry for our weekly bible study.

Every Thursday at 7 pm till 8:30 pm.
Location is around back and down stairs in Sunday school. Classroom at Westminster Baptist church.

Our study will be on the book of Judges.

1 John 4:7 says: dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Are you born of God and do you know God? If so, we should be able to tell because you will demonstrate love to others.

Men,
I saw a Facebook post that said "men will not come to church events unless there is something in it for them". Tell me that this is not the case for the kingdom men of WBC. We go to church to worship God and serve him and others. We start our men's new study on Sept 21 at 7 pm in Room 109.

I read a devotion from Dr. Tony Evans this morning. It was directed at husbands to love their wives. (Ephesians 5:25-27)

Who identifies the roles and responsibilities for you as a husband and father? Is it your upbringing, is it your friends, is it reality TV shows, or is it God's word?

Ephesians 6:4 says: fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Additional instruction can be found in Deuteronomy 6.

Men, God defines your roles and responsibilities. Read his word and become a kingdom man.

What are other instructions God gives us as husbands and fathers?
