This week, our Guhyagarbha Ta**ra Shedra at Mipham Shedra completed the Spring 2026 semester.
Over the past several years, we have been studying Jamgรถn Mipham Rinpoche's profound commentary, Essence of Clear Light, one of the most important explanations of the Secret Essence Ta**ra within the Nyingma tradition. By the end of Fall 2026, we hope to complete this remarkable text.
Today I am sharing a brief overview from one of our classes. This overview provides general explanations and offers a glimpse into a study tradition passed down for centuries by the great Indian masters, including the illustrious abbot ลฤntarakแนฃita, and preserved through the Tibetan Buddhist Shedra system to the present day.
One of the greatest joys of this program is our community of about 40 dedicated students. Their devotion, diligence, and sincere commitment to the Dharma continually inspire me. I also wish to express my deepest gratitude to all the volunteers whose generosity and hard work make these teachings possible.
Our students do not simply attend classes. At the end of each semester, they take a comprehensive exam on the material covered. Students are encouraged to retake the exam until they achieve a passing score, not because the goal is testing, but because the goal is understanding. Through repeated study, reflection, and review, the teachings gradually become part of one's own experience.
Looking ahead, after completing Essence of Clear Light this Fall, Mipham Shedra plans to begin a new cycle of study in 2027, based on Omniscient Longchen Rabjam's extraordinary commentary on the Guhyagarbha Ta**ra, Secret Essence: Definitive Nature Just As It Is.
This will be a rare opportunity to engage one of the greatest masterpieces of the Nyingma tradition.
