WHY MEN MATTER - BOTH NOW AND FOREVER A Look at the Numbers About Men and Men's Ministry
When a mother comes to Christ, her family will join her at church only 17% of the time; but when a father comes to Christ, his family joins him 93% of the time

69,000,000 of these men make no profession of faith in Christ

90 million men are not involved in any kind of discipleship. Only 6 million men are involved in discipleship-only 1 out of every 18 men.

The typical U.S. Congregation draws an adult crowd that’s 61% female, 39% male. This gender gap shows up in all age categories.

On any given Sunday there are 13 million more adult women than men in America’s churches.

This Sunday almost 25 percent of married, churchgoing women will worship without their husbands.

Midweek activities often draw 70 to 80 percent female participants.

The majority of church employees are women (except for ordained clergy, who are overwhelmingly male).

More than 90 percent of American men believe in God, and five out of six call themselves Christians. But only two out of six attend church on a given Sunday. The average man accepts the reality of Jesus Christ, but fails to see any value in going to church.

Churches overseas report gender gaps of up to 9 women for every adult man in attendance.

Christian universities are becoming convents. The typical Christian college in the U.S. enrolls almost 2 women for every 1 man.

ABSENTEE FATHERS
(from www.dads-daughters.com

The problems associated with Absentee Fathers and the impact that they have on our children, including father and daughter relationships, have been well publicized over the last several years. It seems that we acknowledge the problem, however we are not sure what to do as a remedy.

What is more alarming is that the problem is even worse according to the latest research statistics. According to 72.2 % of the U.S. population, Absentee Fathers is the most significant family or social problem facing America.

What does this mean?
1. An estimated 24.7 million children (36.3%) live absent from their biological father.

2. There are almost 17 million children (25%) living with their single mothers.

3. 1.25 million or 32% of all births in 1995 were out-of-wedlock.

4. Today nearly 4 out of 10 first marriages end in divorce, 60% of divorcing couples have children, and over one million children each year experience the divorce of their parents.

5. One out of every six children is a stepchild.

6. There are nearly 1.9 million single fathers with children under 18.

7. 4 out of every 10 cohabitating couples have children present, and of children born to cohabitating couples, only 4 out of 10 will see their parents marry. Those who do cohabitate experience a 50% higher divorce rate.

8. 26% of absentee fathers live in a different state than their children.

9. About 40% of the children who live in absentee father households haven't seen their fathers in at least a year while 50% of children who don't live with their fathers have never stepped foot in their father's home.

10. Children who live absent from their biological fathers, on average, are more likely to be poor, experience educational, health, emotional and psychological problems, be victims of child abuse, and engage in criminal behavior than their peers who live with their married, biological mother and father.

Currently, 57.7 percent of all black children, 31.8 percent of all Hispanic children, and 20.9 percent of all white children are living in single-parent homes.

PO*******HY

Po*******hy has become a $57 billion industry worldwide.

It produces more revenue in the US than the combined revenues of all professional football, baseball and basketball franchises or rthe combined revenues of ABC, CBS and NBC.

20% of men admit accesssing po*******hy at work. 13% of women do so.

One in four children who use the Internet are exposed to unwanted s*xual material.

S*x in the number one topic searched on the Internet.

MARRIAGE

A November 2010 study by the Pew Research Center shows some significant changes over the past 50 years in attitudes and behavior relating to s*x, marriage and the family.

•In 1960, 72 percent of the adult population was married. By 2008 that number had dropped to 52 percent.
•In 1960, five percent of adults were divorced or separated, compared to 14 percent in 2008.
•Since 1960, the percentage of adults who were never married grew from 15 to 27 percent.
•When asked in the new survey, "Is marriage becoming obsolete?" 39 percent said they believe it is.
•Over the past 50 years, children born to unmarried mothers has risen from five percent to 41 percent.
•Only 32 percent currently believe that premarital s*x is wrong compared to 68 percent in 1969.
•Sixty-nine percent believe that single women having children without a male partner to help raise them is a "bad thing."
•Sixty-two percent say that the best kind of marriage is one where the husband and wife both work and both take care of the household and children.

"Realizing the Power of Love" is written to help fathers and daughters build trust and a better relationship through improving their communication and problem solving skills.
