We are starting to collect donations for our annual Veteran’s project for the
Veterans that are in the transitional living project in through the Detroit VA. We also will be doing an adopt a troop portion in which we will send
care packages to a unit currently stationed overseas. Every day we enjoy the benefit of freedom for which our nation’s Veteran’s
fought so hard for. It is our turn to giv
e back to them! We plan to make about 140 boxes this year along with 30-35 care boxes for our overseas unit that are in active duty now. John's Lutheran School& Church have made it a mission to help those who have selflessly given of themselves for our great nation. Did you know that these fine men and women who so bravely fought for our country now find themselves in need of household cleaning products and paper goods...among other things? John's have made a commitment to collect donations of personal hygiene products, select household products and select food items. In years past the children of our school have made cards, pack the boxes, gift wrapped the boxes and then deliver these packages for the holiday season. Last year our children had a great opportunity to speak to the Veterans and what an education they received. Both the children and the Veterans enjoyed themselves and sang Christmas carols. The experience touched every heart involved! In these tough economic times we all need to pull together and help each other out and try to enjoy the Holiday season. Our Veterans gave themselves so selflessly to defend our American rights and it is our duty to help them in their time of need. So won't you please partner with us to help feed and provide supplies to our Vets? We have established a relationship with the Veterans Hospital who have provided us with what the vets are most in need of toiletries, clothes etc. We have estimated the cost of this project to be about $6,000.00 which will provide approximately 140 boxes of paper products and cleaning supplies for those at the Transitional living project in the Detroit VA as well as food boxes for the them because they are just starting out and the items for the overseas troop and shipping. Please know that any contributions or donations are greatly appreciated. Contributions are 100% tax deductible and 100% of the donations go to the project. Business names go on a thank you poster and on a donor list placed in every box, you will also receive a thank you certificate to hang in your place of business. Individuals are encouraged to donate as well every dollar helps, no donation to small!! So, please consider partnering with us to help provide the Veterans with some necessary supplies. Checks should be written to St. John's Veterans Project. If you have helped in the past you know what a huge undertaking this project is and how many hands it takes to make it come together. If you have not helped in the past please think about helping this year. We are expanding this project every year to help more and more of our Veterans.
