Coming back to work after a vacation can feel surprisingly daunting. Rest has given us room to breathe, and suddenly the alarms, inboxes, deadlines, and responsibilities all come rushing back.
Rather than expecting ourselves to return perfectly organized and ready for everything, perhaps the better goal is simply to "return present," trusting God for the grace to meet each task, each person, and each challenge as it comes.
**A Prayer for Returning to Work**
Lord, thank you for the gift of rest and for the people and moments that renewed me.
As I return to work, keep me from carrying tomorrow’s worries today. Give me energy for what needs doing, patience with those I meet, and wisdom to know what truly matters.
When the work feels overwhelming, help me take one thing at a time. Guard my words when I am frustrated, and remind me that the value of my work is not measured by praise or recognition.
Help me work honestly, generously, and well, while remembering that my work is part of my life - not the whole of it.
Walk with me as I begin again. Amen.
