With the warm weather here, we’re excited to bring back our Summer Family Night BBQs at St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy! . Everyone is welcome to join us on Monday evenings from 6–8 PM for a relaxed time of food, fellowship, and fun. This year, food will be served indoors in the social hall, but we’ll still have outdoor space set up with lawn games and a small bonfire for anyone who wants to enjoy the evening outside. Feel free to bring a chair and spend time outdoors if the weather is nice.

The basics will be provided, including hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, plates, cups, utensils, napkins, condiments, and use of the grill. We ask that attendees bring a dish to pass, such as a side or dessert, along with their own drinks. One of the nice changes this year is that, with food indoors, we’ll be able to continue as planned even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

The Knights of Columbus will host on the above dates!

Ronald Leroy “Ron” Luster, of Westland, passed away March 5, 2026, at the age of 81.

October 23, 1944 - March 5, 2026

He was the beloved husband of the late Ophelia Luster. Loving father of Rhonda (Patrick) Cowley, Derrick Luster, Chandra Lake, and Melinda Luster. Proud grandfather of Kadijah (Andrea) Doucette, Deazia Simmons, Skylar (Samya) Brown, Rhodesia (Christina) Gondy, Diamond (Orlanda) Brown, Immanuel Luster, and Rodney Lake. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Karter, Londyn, Logan, Luna, Leilani, Lavell, Tyre, Eva, and Ava.

Ron was the son of the late Roosevelt II and Mildred Luster. He is survived by his brothers Gerald (Tina) Luster and Roosevelt Luster Jr., and was a dear uncle to Erika Luster, MD, Amelia Luster, Isaiah Luster, Gerald Luster II, and Roosevelt Luster III.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Kohler #15204 as well as the Holy Name Fraternity. Ron enjoyed fishing and was dedicated to serving at St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Friday, March 20, from 11:00 AM until the 11:30 AM funeral service at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 980 N. Newburgh Road (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill) in Westland. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Checks should be payable to Chandra Lake.
