There are many fulvic/humic acid products available on the marketplace today, from sources of varying quality around the world. Many of the lower quality deposits contain humates and fulvic acid that are high in heavy metals, or that require the use of toxic chemicals for extraction. Because one of the many benefits of fulvic/humic acid is its ability to bind and deactivate toxic substances, using harsh chemicals to extract it uses up its chemical buffering capacity, resulting in a much lower quality product. Chemical extraction has negative effects on fulvic/humic acids ability to regulate soil pH, stimulate biological activity, and increase cation exchange capacity.
