e. We are a congregation composed of children and youth, families, single and retired people. We come from many walks of life and hold different opinions about many issues. Only Christ could hold us all together, and we give thanks for how wonderfully he does this in the bonds of tender love. We also are grateful for the way he reveals his holy purposes for our lives and unites us in common mission. When Christ calls us to be part of the life and mission of his church he accepts and embraces us as we are with all our full life experiences. We welcome everyone with the gifts and calling to serve in all church offices.

Rev. Dr. Aaron Shepherd joins the Presbyterian Church in Westfield as the congregation’s 21st called senior pastor, beginning his ministry as the church approaches its 300th anniversary.

Recently, we sat down with Dr. Shepherd to learn a little more about him, his background, and what led him to the ministry.

With a PhD in philosophy, Dr. Shepherd could have found a natural home in a university classroom. Instead, he chose the pulpit.

In this video, he explains how a strong sense of calling toward ministry underscored his decision—and why he believes serving the church is where he is meant to be.
