In 2 Corinthians 6:1, Paul urges believers, "Do not receive the grace of God in vain." God's grace is one of the greatest gifts we will ever receive, yet it is possible to hear about His grace without allowing it to transform our hearts and lives. Paul reminds the Corinthians that "now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (v.2). God's invitation is always urgent. Tomorrow is not promised, and delayed obedience often becomes disobedience. A heart that is open to God responds when He calls. The apostle then describes the hardships he enduredβtribulations, imprisonments, sleepless nights,
and difficulties of every kind. Despite these challenges, Paul refused to let suffering close his heart or weaken his faith. Instead, he continued serving God with purity, kindness, patience, sincere love, and reliance on the Holy Spirit. Many things can cause our hearts to become narrow: disappointment, bitterness, fear, pride, or sin. When that happens, we become less responsive to God and less loving toward others. Paul's example teaches us that faithful Christians keep their hearts open even when life is difficult. Jesus is the greatest example of an open heart. At the cross, He stretched out His arms in love for a world lost in sin. His grace is wide enough to forgive every sinner, and His mercy is deep enough to restore every life. Today, ask God to enlarge your heart. Open it to His grace, His truth, His people, and His purpose. A heart fully open to God becomes a channel through which His love and blessing flow to others.
