Congregation Ahavas Achim

Ahavas Achim is a small congregation serving members from the Westfield, MA. CAA provides a friendly, informal atmosphere, and a strong sense of community.

A warm Jewish community…a place to celebrate Jewish heritage…Congregation Ahavas Achim welcomes you to explore and develop your relationship to Judaism with us. area, as well as Springfield, Longmeadow, and neighboring communities in Western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. We are an unaffiliated synagogue led by our Spiritual Leader, Rabbi Shahar C**t, whose vision is a transdenominational

congregation, honoring the traditions of all forms of Judaism. Our members come from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds and include many interfaith families. Our services are held at the Ferst Interfaith Center at Westfield State University. See our newsletter for dates and times. Check in at our page and website. Tonight we lit the first candle on Westfield's community menorah at Elm Street Plaza. Join us at 5:30 on December 21, as we gather as together to celebrate the 8th night of Hanukkah. Join us for the candle lighting, followed by a Latke party. Local historian Bob Brown will provide an overview of Ahavas Achim's history to mark the 50th anniversary of our rebirth.

Congregation Ahavas Achim has been a proud participant at Our Community Table, Westfield's soup kitchen, since shortly after its founding in the 1980's. A group of dedicated volunteers has served dinner the first Thursday of each month since then. In addition, the Congregation serves a delicious roast beef dinner every year on Christmas Day. We are always looking for volunteers to provide food and/or help serve the meal. Please be aware that it is not necessary to enter the building. For further information regarding the monthly soup kitchen, please contact Sandy at 413-262-4564 or [email protected] to volunteer time and/or food.

Recently, our Rabbi, Shahar C**t, gathered a group of family and friends to travel from Hampshire County to Our Community Table for Ahavas Achim and Friends youth/family night. Their group, dubbed CAA, will prepare and serve the meal on the first Sunday of each month. Below are some pictures from their first night volunteering.
