On Sunday, June 14, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey visited the community of St. Andrew in Randolph, New Jersey. His Eminence was welcomed by Proistamenos Fr. John Theodosion, Parish Council president Mr. Michael Serghiou and members of the GOYA youth group.

In his sermon, His Eminence expressed that the Gospel reading for this Sunday expressed not only a historical event in the life of Christ, but an eternal reality that we can experience in our lives today. The passage begins with Christ calling Peter and Andrew followed by James and John from their labor as fisherman to serve Him as his Disciples. These simple men, despite their lack of education, were chosen by Christ as co-laborers of the Gospel not because of any earthly office that they held, but because of their faith, which was seen in the manner they immediately left their work to follow Him. In the same way, we are all capable of being saints and teachers today if we express belief that Christ is the Son of God and try to follow the example of the disciples, who left everything to follow Him. the reading ends with the Evangelist Matthew testifying to Christ's healing of the masses and instructing them in the region of Galilee. The same Christ is present in the Eucharist that we receive in Church every Sunday. His Eminence expressed that if we participate in the sacramental life of the Church with faith, we can also find Christ's healing and grace in our day to day lives.

At the end of the service, Fr. John Theodosion invited to the solea the parishioners who were recognized at this year's Northern New Jersey Ambassador Banquet and acknowledged their contributions to the community. His Eminence congratulated them all and thanked them for their service to the Church. The ladies of the St. Andrew Philoptochos hosted a luncheon in honor of His Eminence's visit which included a performance from the G.O.Y.A. folk dancers. The dance group recognized their instructor, Mr. Angelo Gergatsoulis who is stepping down after 28 years of teaching Greek dance to the young people of St. Andrew.

With sentiments of profound respect, love, and filial devotion, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos, the Reverend Clergy, the Metropolitan Council, the Ladies of the Philoptochos Society, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and the faithful people of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey extend their warmest wishes to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the occasion of his nameday and the completion of thirty-five years of blessed, fruitful, and sacrificial Patriarchal ministry.

With wisdom, discernment, paternal love, and unwavering dedication to the sacred inheritance of Orthodoxy, His All-Holiness continues to guide the Ecumenical Patriarchate, offering a living witness of faith, unity, and selfless service to the entire world. As the Holy Apostle Paul reminds us, “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith” (Hebrews 13:7). With boundless respect and gratitude, we honor the radiant example of His All-Holiness, who for more than three decades has served the Church and humanity with exceptional devotion and self-sacrifice.

We prayerfully and devotedly beseech Almighty God, through the intercessions of the Holy Apostle Bartholomew, to grant His All-Holiness continued good health, spiritual strength, and many blessed years, so that he may continue unimpeded in his God-inspired mission, to the glory of God and for the strengthening of the fullness of Christ’s Holy Great Church.

Many faithful came from surrounding parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia to represent Greek-American culture in Baltimore as the Orioles faced off against the Seattle Mariners. This year, Federation President Dr. Panos Stavrianidis and the Hellenic Federation of New Jersey honored Archon George Tsougarakis, esq. and the Pan-Gregorian Enterprises, INC./P.G.E.I. of America Charitable Foundation , INC. for their contributions towards Hellenism in America.

The Federation presented Archon George Tsougarakis with the Alexander the Great Lifetime achievement award in recognition of his service as General Consul of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, advising the Archbishop, Synod, Archdiocese and Metropolises on legal matters. Additionally, he was recognized for his years of commitment to his home parish of St. John the Theologian Cathedral as president of the parish council, Sunday School teacher, Archon Regional commander and volunteer for numerous other ministries.

The Pan-Gregorian Enterprises, INC. received the Alexander the Great Community Service Award for their commitment to supporting a plethora of charitable causes since their inception in 1987, through their charitable arm, "P.G.E.I. of America Charitable Foundation , INC.". In His Closing remarks His Eminence congratulated the members of the Pan-Gregorian Enterprises and Archon Tsougarakis for the honors they received that night. Proclaiming them "Axioi", he commented on the significance of the "Alexander the Great" award stating that while mainly remembered for his military conquests, Alexander the Great's more enduring legacy is found in the values of Hellenism that he imported to foreign lands. Though far from their motherland, tonight's recipients express a similar spirit, presenting the values of Hellenism in their own communities.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey celebrated the Orthros and Divine Liturgy for the “Sunday of All Saints” at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, New Jersey.. Parish proistamenos V. Rev. Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Nektarios Cottros and Fr. Efthimios Mertzanis welcomed his Eminence to the community. It was a very active day for the parish, as they celebrated the graduation of the Sunday school and their annual GOYA end of the year barbeque
On the Sunday of All Saints, His Eminence explained that “The Sunday of All Saints follows the Feast of Pentecost for a profound reason. The saints are the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit who descended upon the Apostles continues to sanctify the faithful and transform ordinary people into saints”. Through the example of modern-day saint such as St. Paisios, we come to understand that “The saints are not merely figures of the past; they are living members of the Body of Christ. They pray for us, inspire us, and remind us that holiness is possible for every Christian.” The message of the feast is delivered to us most clearly in today’s Gospel reading where we hear Christ exclaim “Whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 10:32). This confession is not only made with words but with our entire life. The saints confessed Christ through their faith, their sacrifices, their acts of mercy, and their unwavering devotion. Many suffered persecution, exile, imprisonment, and even martyrdom, yet they remained steadfast because they loved Christ above all else.
Before the completion of the liturgy, His Eminence presided over the Memorial Service offered by the Cretan Fraternity “Λευκά Όρη”, “ The White Mountains” in honor of those who gave their lives in the Battle of Crete 85 years ago in 1941, as well as their deceased brethren. Additionally, the St. George Sunday School program held their annual graduation exercises. The students chanted the apolitikion of St. George as they presented diplomas to this year’s Seniors.
Following the service, the St. George G.O.Y.A. invited His Eminence to join them for their annual end of the year G.O.Y.A. barbeque. The advisors and youth of St. George honored all their graduating seniors while reflecting on memories and successes from the past year. Fr. Nektarios also announced the new G.O.Y.A executive board for the 2026-2027 year. Additionally, local A.H.E.P.A. chapter 75 awarded academic scholarships to G.O.Y.A. seniors.
