Union County Torah Center - Chabad

Union County Torah Center - Chabad Jewish Educational Outreach Center The Chabad-Lubavitch philosophy is our foundation and inspiration.

The Union County Torah Center-Chabad is a Jewish educational outreach center and synagogue serving the Union County area (Westfield, Mountainside, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Cranford, Clark, Springfield). Chabad is an acronym of three Hebrew words: Chochma (wisdom) Binah (understanding), and Daas (knowledge). The Torah Center-Chabad is first and foremost an educational organization, whose basic philo

sophy is that all Jews share the privilege of having been given our spiritual heritage, and that the wisdom and knowledge of the Torah is open to all who wish to learn and grow. Our classes for adults and children are held throughout the year on a thought-provoking range of subjects, taught by our staff scholars as well as dynamic guest speakers. The Torah Center's Sunday Hebrew School is a place where children look forward to spending time. The environment is spirited and the learning is enjoyable and rewarding. In addition, throughout the year, Jewish families from the entire region enjoy holiday parties, programs, and hands-on learning experiences such as the Shofar, Olive Oil, Matzah, and Torah Factories at the appropriate times of the year. Of course, every week we offer warm and welcoming Friday night and Shabbat services in our shul, and every year we hold High Holiday services in a public place -- always open to all. A fundamental value of Chabad is an unconditional love of all Jews, regardless of affiliation, level of knowledge, or observance. This principle is the basis of all of our work; our programs and services are for all Jews. At the Torah Center, all Jews are family, and our home is your home. We invite you to come meet us-learn and celebrate our Jewish tradition together with us. At the Union County Torah Center, what we try to offer most of all is warmth, friendliness, and acceptance that you will sense as soon as you walk through the door.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Union County Torah Center–Chabad invites the community to a festive Sukkot dinner on Friday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m., held in the UCTC Sukkah at 111 Laurel Place in Westfield. The evening will bring together family and friends for a delicious holiday dinner spiced with great food, song, and meaningful holiday insights.

Sukkot, one of the most joyous festivals on the Jewish calendar, commemorates the protection granted to the Jewish people during their journey through the desert. For eight days, meals are enjoyed in the sukkah — a temporary outdoor hut roofed with natural branches — turning an ordinary dinner into a celebration under the stars. The Torah Center's community dinner offers residents of Westfield and surrounding Union County towns the chance to experience the holiday's warmth and beauty in a welcoming setting, whether they have celebrated Sukkot all their lives or are stepping into a sukkah for the very first time.

The cost of the dinner is $36 per person, with a reduced rate of $20 per person for students and young Jewish professionals. Reservations are requested by September 22. The evening's sukkah is sponsored by Dr. Andrew Andonov in memory of his mother and grandmother, and the dinner is held in honor of the yahrzeits of Dalia Brodian's mother, Bertha bat Shaul & Mazal, and of Rabbi Block's father, Yitzchok Leib ben Chaim Aharon.

For more information or to RSVP, contact the UCTC-Chabad at 908-789-5252 or [email protected], or register online at https://torahcenterchabad.org/sukkot-festive-community-dinner/

Union County Torah Center to Present "Business Ethics: Bringing G-d Into the Marketplace"

New class explores the Torah's guide to honest commerce

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Union County Torah Center – Chabad will present a new class, "Business Ethics: Bringing G-d Into the Marketplace," on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30 PM via Zoom. The class will be delivered by Rabbi Levi Block.

Can a person be deeply religious in prayer and study, yet leave G-d behind when money is involved? The Torah treats the marketplace as one of the greatest tests of integrity, because profit, pressure, and competition reveal whether a person's values are truly part of him. This class explores the Torah's approach to practical business questions—from fair pricing and honest advertising to keeping commitments, handling another person's property, and competing without destroying someone else's livelihood. Through these real-world cases, participants will discover why honest weights are connected to the Exodus, and how ordinary business can become one of the most powerful ways to bring G-d into the world.

The class is part of the Union County Torah Center's ongoing series exploring timeless Jewish wisdom for everyday life, and is open to the community.

Those interested in attending can register at https://torahcenterchabad.org/business-ethics-bringing-g-d-into-the-marketplace/ to receive the Zoom link.
