What if church was never meant to be just a place you attend… but a family you belong to?

In this message, we kick off our new series “I Love My Church” with a powerful reminder: the church isn’t the building—it’s the people.

A house has an address. A home has belonging.

And when we move from simply “I go to church” to “This is my church,” everything changes.

Through Acts 2, we discover what it looks like to be a Spirit-filled church that lives life together, grows together, serves together, prays together, and makes room for others.

Because following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. Christianity was never designed as a solo sport.

You don’t have to be perfect to belong. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You can belong while you’re becoming—and as we encounter Jesus, He continues to transform us.

My name is Ellie. I gave my life to Jesus in January. I’ve been at Chapel my whole life and have grown up in this church family. I know that with God, I don’t have to be afraid because He is always with me. I’m excited to keep growing in my faith and to tell others about Him. Today, I am choosing to be baptized because I want to follow Jesus.

In this week’s KNOCK KNOCK message, we tackled some of the real questions we all wrestle with when it comes to prayer, unanswered prayers, God’s will, spiritual battles, and strongholds.

Faith isn’t believing God will always do exactly what we ask.
Faith is believing God is trustworthy regardless of how He answers.

And when it comes to strongholds, prayer isn’t a substitute for obedience—it empowers obedience. What has been built can be torn down through Christ!

Hi my name is Hannah. I’ve been in church since I was a little girl but never quite felt close to God. I knew He was always there; however, I never quite found my way to Him.
Throughout my life I struggled with addiction, trauma, anxiety, and depression. What drew me to the Lord was reading the book - A Case for Christ. It’s about a man who set out to prove everything about God was wrong, but instead ended up becoming a Christian. I wanted to believe God wasn’t real, but it became so hard not to because at that point, I felt Him.
He did for me what I could not do for myself. In my case, that meant sitting me down through jail. When I asked for treatment, I was placed in a faith-based facility. That led me to an amazing counselor who loves Jesus, and she never gave up on me. She knew that the girl who said, “I don’t do the Jesus thing,” was loved by Him anyway.
I was hiding behind drugs to cover up the shame I felt for not being the best mother I could be and for not protecting my son from the life I had exposed him to. I believed I could never come back from the lies, the deceit, or the choices I had made. I labeled myself as the mom who left.
But today, I am not ashamed of my past. I love myself. I love who I am becoming. I love the bond I have with my son and my family. As of August 5, 2026, I am two years sober.
One verse that has become so meaningful to me is when Jesus says, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your disease.” (Mark 5:34). Those words remind me that my identity is no longer my past. I have peace and joy because of Jesus. I know I’m forgiven, and I know I’m loved despite my flaws.
Chapel North has made me feel welcomed and loved, and I’m so excited to continue growing in my relationship with Jesus alongside my church family.
Today, I am choosing to be baptized because Jesus has changed my life. My sins have been forgiven, I have been made new, and I want to publicly declare that I am following Him.

WAIT… THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?!

What happens when God answers a prayer you almost stopped believing would be answered?
In Acts 12, the church is praying for Peter’s rescue, and when Peter actually shows up at the door, they can hardly believe it!

This final message in our KNOCK KNOCK series is a powerful reminder:
- Prayer doesn’t require perfect faith.
- God’s answers don’t always look like we expect.
- And answered prayer should inspire us to KEEP KNOCKING.
Maybe you’ve been praying for a week.
Maybe it’s been a year.
Maybe you’re not even sure God is listening.
Don’t stop knocking.
Don’t confuse silence with absence.
Don’t confuse waiting with inactivity.
And don’t confuse delayed answers with denied prayers.
Heaven may be working underground where you can’t see it yet.
Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep knocking.

““And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

In the final message of our Knock Knock series, we’re reminded that prayer doesn’t require perfect faith—it requires faithful persistence. God’s answers may look different than we expected, His timing may not match ours, and sometimes He’s working long before we can see the evidence.

So if you’ve been praying, waiting, wondering, or even struggling to believe, keep knocking. Don’t confuse silence with absence, waiting with inactivity, or delayed answers with denied prayers. God is still working—even when you can’t see it.

The door is open. Keep knocking. Keep praying. Keep believing.

My name is Aliyah. My relationship with God was never something that was very strong. For a while, I didn’t truly believe there could be a God because if there was, He would have protected me from the bad things happening in my life.
I spent years dealing with bullying and suicidal thoughts. I even tried to take my life twice. I truly never believed I was going to make it to adulthood.
When I got to college, I completely lost myself and started to spiral. I didn’t want to live and wanted to mask my pain, so I was going out every weekend, blacking out, and putting myself in situations I didn’t need to be in. I ended the school year failing most of my classes and decided to come back home.
Moving back home gave me two amazing people that I believe God placed in my life. They poured into me and inspired me to start my walk with God. I started slowly reading my Bible, but I still wasn’t fully focused on God.
In February, my grandpa suffered a stroke. I thought I was going to lose him forever - the man who was truly a father to me. When I heard the news, I instantly began to pray, and over and over again I prayed for him to be healed. Thanks to the grace of God, he is here with us still today. That is when I slowly started to believe.
Then my friend Hannah began to invite me to church here at Chapel, and I quickly fell in love. The community made me feel so welcomed and accepted - something I hadn’t felt in a very long time. I’m grateful for the friends God placed in my life to push me and help me be where I’m at today.
I am ready to give my yes to Jesus Christ. Because of Him, I get to turn 21 in six months - something I didn’t think was possible a couple years ago. Because of Jesus, I finally feel peace in my life - something I haven’t felt since I was a child. Because of Jesus, I have an amazing community who loves and cares about me, so I’m forever grateful to God.
Today, I am choosing to be baptized because I have said yes to Jesus, and I want to continue growing in my relationship with Him.
