St. Brigid's Rock Mass

St. Brigid's Rock Mass An online meeting place for the 6 pm mass family The 6pm "rock mass" was established in 1989, when Fr. (So to speak.) We welcome everyone!

John White (and company) decided to create a mass for the outsiders of the church. Over the years there have been changes in parishioners, priests and music; but the goal has remained the same. Held in the chapel at St. Brigid's school Sept-June and in the church July & Aug....thanks to the air conditioning...., a contemporary catholic service is offered. A standard catholic mass is accompanied b

y a full rock band. Praise music and christian rock resound through the walls, with one of the liveliest congregations around! Join us for mass or for one of our special services through the year!

We are very sad to announce that we are no longer welcome to play on Good Friday. As band leader, I have been let go. 31 years at the rock mass. We are devastated. Other musicians will be taking over moving forward.
Please stay in touch. We will let you know where we wind up. ✌️💕🎶🙏

Very sad news. Joe Napolitano, usher and active member of the 6pm family, has passed away. His funeral will be at 945 on Tuesday. The wake is at Donahue-Cecere Monday.

We are still looking for a basis and sub drummer (who can play percussion on other weeks) specifically for the six times September. If you or anyone you know fits the bill, Please be in touch!

We are still looking for specifically a bassist and a fill-in on drums who could ideally play percussion on the opposite weeks. It’s essentially a school year with rehearsal before the mass and additional scattered through the year. It is a dedication, but one that I have enjoyed thoroughly for 30 years plus! Please message me if you or anyone else you know would be interested.✌️🙏🎶

Hello to all of our 6 o’clock family. I would like to start by wishing everyone a delayed beautiful holy week experience. Whereas the band only plays on Palm Sunday and the rock stations of the cross 8pm Friday night, Denise and Chuck do take care of the beach mass Easter Sunday morning. It is always encouraged to be a part of all of holy week.… and if you cannot make services at Saint Brigid, I will be at St Marthas for the traditional Holy Triduum masses…. feel free to visit me there!
While I hopefully have your attention….we are looking for substitute musicians, for when our band may be missing a member due to work or illness, etc. Being a full-time member is a large dedication. Believe me, we know that! If in fact that might appeal to you or someone, you know, please let me know in a dm. ✌️💕🎶🙏

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all.
For those of you who listen to K-LOVE, the message etc. we would love to hear any song suggestions that we can try to add to our repertoire. Currently, we have a need for Eucharist specific songs for communion. As Catholics, it is not the easiest topic in contemporary Christian songs. If anything good comes to mind, I would love your input!
Also, we are still looking for a bassist, as Billy’s work schedule only permits him to be with us periodically. For either request, please dm me.
Anyone who has been away for a while, we hope you come back. It makes for a great New Year’s resolution!

Thanks to Bonnie Oettinger Healy for the old video!!!
A very important announcement—the band will be playing at 10pm in the chapel instead of the usual midnight mass. We hope to still see you there
Anyone who is more a Christmas Day person, Sky & I will be doing the 930am in the chapel in the morning. Merry Christmas to all!!!

The sound quality is certainly unbalanced, but the security cameras were the reason we have this. It’s a great memory of a tradition I hope will return. I’m proud of what we pulled off. This was (I think??) the first year we did the concert. (For those tagged, if it was the second, I’d love to know. 🤪)

Hi everyone. I’ve seen many of you over the summer, but we are looking forward to a (hopeful) full church sooner than later.

It looks like we will be needing a bassist if anyone is willing and able. Our current has a new job that will not permit him to attend many weeks.…

The band is volunteer. It requires prayer, dedication, the ability to read off of charts, sheet music etc.

Please send a pm if you are interested & we will gladly set up an audition. Thank you in advance!
