What to do if you can't come to Mass......

Masses are not cancelled at Assumption Parish. If the weather prevents you coming to church, there is no obligation to attend Mass. Sunday remains the Lord's day and a time to praise God, thank Him, and offer prayers for all those in need. You should dedicate time for this. Please dress properly and avoid eating, drinking or conversing during your prayer time. You might watch Mass on TV or the Internet, pray the Rosary or Chaplet of Mercy, or read some Scriptures. It would be good to end by praying an Act of Contrition asking God's mercy and an Our Father before making a Spiritual Act of Communion. The Act of Communion can be said simply: "Lord, I can't attend Mass today, so I ask you to bless me just as you would if I received you in Holy Communion today. I thank you for dying for us and sharing your divine life with us. Help me to live according to your love." Then offer the same prayers you would offer after Holy Communion at Mass.

Las misas no se cancelan en Assumption Parish. Si el clima le impide asistir a la iglesia, no hay obligación de ir a misa. El domingo sigue siendo el día del Señor y un tiempo para alabar a Dios, darle gracias y ofrecer oraciones por todos los necesitados. Debe dedicar tiempo a esto. Por favor, vístase apropiadamente y evite comer, beber o conversar durante su tiempo de oración. Puede ver la misa por televisión o internet, rezar el Rosario o la Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia, o leer las Sagradas Escrituras. Sería bueno terminar rezando un Acto de Contrición pidiendo la misericordia de Dios y un Padrenuestro antes de hacer una Comunión Espiritual. La Comunión Espiritual se puede rezar de la siguiente manera: "Señor, hoy no puedo asistir a misa, por lo tanto, te pido que me bendigas como si te recibiera en la Sagrada Comunión. The Confirmation Student Retreat has been cancelled for tomorrow. It has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 7. Paperwork and letters will be due no later than Wednesday, January 28th. Have a safe weekend!

If the weather makes travel unsafe this weekend, please stay home. God does not want you to endanger yourself or others. This is also true if you are ill. You never need special permission or "dispensation" to stay home for reasons of bad weather or health.

Si el mal tiempo hace que viajar sea peligroso este fin de semana, por favor, quédense en casa. Dios no quiere que pongan en peligro su vida ni la de los demás. Esto también se aplica si están enfermos. No necesitan ningún permiso especial ni dispensa para quedarse en casa por motivos de mal tiempo o salud.
