To seek the Kingdom of Heaven

STATEMENT OF FAITH
Upper Room Christian Fellowship believes and affirms with one heart and mind:
That there is one eternal, triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That sin, a corruption of the heart, mind and soul is the cause of human separation from God, the Creator. This corruption is the natural condition of every human being and its effects are the plight of the whole creation. That the devil, the adversary of God, the instigator of lawlessness and the accuser of God’s people, though powerful, is defeated. The Father sent the Son into the world to destroy the works of this evil one. That Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, died a sacrificial and atoning death, was buried, on the third day rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again in glory. That the only way to true reconciliation and peace with God is through faith in Christ Jesus. Such saving faith is divinely initiated and graced, and is personally activated and enduring. That the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within all who put their trust in Jesus, guaranteeing the life to come. He convicts the world of sin, endows God’s people with the gifts and fruits of love, empowers them for service and leads them in the way of righteousness and truth. That the Church is the community of all who share in the life and merits of Jesus; though diverse in cultural and theological expression, it is one body. The unity of the Church is found in the One Spirit who is the life of all, and is experienced in its submission to One Head, Jesus Christ. Those who have rejected Christ will be set apart for eternal torment, while those who have remained faithful to Christ will live with the Lord God in righteousness, peace and joy forever. That the Holy Scriptures, the Bible in its entirety, is the very Word of God. The Scriptures are given so that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, to instruct us in the ways of God, and to equip God’s people to do good in the world.
