Good afternoon sisters and brothers. We hope you were able to join us for our wonderful stake conference. In the general session of that stake conference today, Elder Jorge M. Alvarado announced the discontinuation of the Salt Lake Hunter South Stake and explained the boundary realignments for the previous wards in our stake as well as in neighboring stakes. These changes were approved with a sustaining vote. With those realignments, all stake and ward leaders and members were released from their current callings, with the exception of those called and sustained into bishoprics at today's meeting. Details of the boundary changes, and all other relevant details for the new wards and new alignment, are included in the two images below.

We are grateful to those who took part in the conference in any way, and thankful for the opportunities these changes can provide to our lives. This social media page, along with other pages and sites from our previous stake, will be deleted later this week. We look forward to "pressing on" with each of you as we continue to serve the Lord together.

We invite you to join us for our Stake Conference, held September 16 and 17 at the 5400 building (due to ongoing construction). We will be privileged to have Elder Jorge M. Alvarado of the Seventy presiding and will hear from him as well as leaders and individuals in our stake.

-Saturday, Sept. 16, 3:30-5:30 pm - Leadership Meeting - For all members of the Stake Council and their counselors, bishoprics including Executive Secretary and Ward Clerk, and ward Relief Society and Elders Quorum presidents and their counselors.

-Saturday, Sept. 16, 7:00 pm - Adult Session - For all adults ages 18 and above.

-Sunday, Sept 17, 10:00 am - General Session - For all members, neighbors, and friends in the stake area.

We encourage you to make plans to attend and to have a rewarding and spiritual uplifting experience as you do so.

A message from Sister Paulette Allred of the stake Relief Society presidency:

Many of us have gone through challenges in our lives. Sometimes it can be daunting and you wonder if you will be able to make it. Losing a loved one is one of those experiences that we will all have to go through. I am so grateful for Heaven!y Father and what he did through his son Jesus Christ for us all. We can be reunited with our loved ones who have passed on and know that we will have a joyous reunion when it will be our time to leave our mortal life. I hope that the message that is included will reaffirm this to you and will give hope to those who may still be struggling with the loss they are feeling for their departed loved one. May the Lord bless and keep you.

A message from President Lee Hall of the stake presidency:

My dear Sisters and Brothers -

As you are aware, I will be released as the President of this great stake on Sept. 17 at our Stake Conference. I hope you will join us for the Stake Conference meetings that weekend!

It has been an absolute privilege to serve in this capacity for many years. Serving in this calling has given me many opportunities to see the Savior's hand in His work. These opportunities do not just come to those called to serve in leadership callings... they are available to all of us! I know I will have many more chances to see the Savior do His work

I know that all things are possible only through the Savior Jesus Christ and his infinite Atonement. I echo D&C 76:22, which says, "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!"

The first is to help create and organize dolls and blankets for Primary Children's Hospital. The second is to help in a community clean-up of Magna Main Street. We invite all youth who are a part of the high-school-aged PREPARED classes to attend a special lesson this Sunday, August 13, 2:30 pm at the Carlson's home. This lesson is called "Queso and Questions" where, you guessed it, there will be some chips and queso provided as well as an opportunity to sit down with President and Sister Carlson and ask any questions you might have. We look forward to seeing our wonderful youth there!

A message from President Brandon Carlson of the stake presidency:

I recently heard a song on the radio in which the artist suggested that he only communes with deity when he is need of a favor. At first glance I scoffed at such a relationship. But I then began to consider my personal prayers and quickly realized that I was treating my prayers as if I was ordering fast food, selecting my favorite menu items to fulfill my needs and appease my desires.

Looking to our Exemplar in all things (see D&C 6:36) and genuinely considering how I could improve my personal prayers, my heart and head were drawn to the great intercessory prayer. Specifically, I was drawn to this phrase: "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done" (see Luke 22:42). I now am earnest in asking and in hearing the reply to this question: how can I more fully be aligned with Thy will? In speaking to students at Ensign College, Elder Bednar taught: "You don't pray to tell God what you want or what you need. You pray to find out what God wants for you."

Such heartfelt communion will bring divine direction and cultivate change. You'll begin to see the world - especially others - through heaven's lenses. When you act upon and align with Father's will, you will feel elevated and improved; evidences, if you will, that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is working in your life and the He is truly alive in you.
