Living in Harmony at First Church
Sometimes people have disagreements with others. Church families are no different! When that happens, people often build fences between themselves and others. They stop communicating, and they don't want to be around the person with whom they disagree. But that isn't what Jesus wants God's children to do. Instead of fences, Jesus wants us to build a bridge of love. This love can be lived out in good communicating. This will be the focus of worship at First Church on this Communion Sunday, September 6.
There are many events coming up at First Church! The first Parish Association meeting of the fall will be held on Saturday, September 5 from 9 to 10 am. Members of all faith communities in Agawam, Feeding Hills, and West Springfield are welcome. We gather to share parish news and focus on how, by working together, communities of faith can address the needs of the least, the last and the lost.
September 13 is "Kick-Off" Sunday, when families will be welcomed into a new year of Kids gatherings. Monthly potluck suppers and youth group meetings are coming up this month also! Please visit www.firstchurchws.org for more information.
First Congregational United Church of Christ is located at 108 Park Street in West Springfield. Sunday worship is from 10 to 11 am. A time of refreshment and fellowship takes place following the service.
Church without Walls, an outreach ministry hosted by the churches of the Parish Association, takes place every Sunday at First Church at noon. Agawam Congregational Church will supply bag lunches and a message of hope and love this Sunday! All are welcome.
The First Parish was established in 1698. 325 years later, the congregation is still serving the community and its members in West Springfield, MA.
