Footprints in the Sand: Devotions for each day "In Him I Serve Ministries"

Footprints in the Sand: Devotions for each day "In Him I Serve Ministries" This page is about testimonies and inspirational devotions for Women needing to know; you are not walking alone. There was something God placed in my path.

If you would like to share encouraging words and testimonies, please post them to my group page of the same name. After my sister, her husband, my mother, and my first husband all in less than a year died, if it wasn't for my relationship with God, I would have not made it. It was the poem called "Footprints in the Sand". "When I saw one set of footprints, it was God who was carrying me." This the reason we have named this devotional page "Footprints". Also I want to say thank you to my husband whom God has placed in my life for his encouragement to grow in my personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. When we draw closer to the Lord, you will discover an awesome love He has for His children.

LIGHTHOUSE

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” ~ Acts 13:47

**********

The interesting thing about doing God’s work on earth is that it will never be finished. As long as we are alive, God has a job for us to do. God doesn’t want any people to miss the chance to know the joy of salvation. We have been entrusted with that message and it is both our privilege and our responsibility.

God has made each of us a light. Our light, proclaiming His love, can shine like a lighthouse for those who are trying to find their way through the storms of life.

BASIC OBEDIENCE

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14

**********

This sounds so basic … but it’s so important. Four simple steps:
Humble yourself (confess your sin and admit you need God’s help).
Pray (stay in communication with Him).
Seek His face (take time to mediate and experience His presence).
Turn from your sin (being in His presence must change you).

God promises to hear your prayers and to take action on your behalf. If you ever feel at a loss as to what obeying God means –start here.

A FAITHFUL SOUNDING BOARD

Give ear to my prayer, O God….Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my compliant and am surely distracted. ~ Psalm 55: 1-2

The troubles come from every side, leaving you almost paralyzed due to their intensity. You try to concentrate—to get something done. However, the problems you face bombard your thoughts until you cannot separate one from another.

You are weary, but cannot sleep. You want to escape, but feel so bound by the situation that you cannot take your mind off of it. You think no one could possibly understand the toll it is taking on your soul.

However, there is One who does.

Friend, no matter what troubles you are facing, there is no reason for despair. God hears you and will help you. Call to Him---lay your burdens at His feet. He is always available to speak peace to your soul.

**********

God, thank You for understanding the terrible stress I am experiencing and for listening to my prayers. And thank You, dear Lord, for helping me as only You can. Amen.

JUST PEACE

Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. ~ Amos 5:24

**********

We long for the day when corruption and violence cease to exist and the peace of God truly reigns. It is the longing that occupies the heart of God; it is His goal. And those whom He considers His true friends are working with Him toward this end.

If you desire to partner with God, then pray to develop His passion for peace on earth. You will begin to realize that the most critical component of peace is justice. Not the responsibility of the courts to deal with criminal acts, but the aspect of justice that works to put things right within your community.

You begin to realize that injustice can be uprooted—little by little—by doing what is within your power to do for the poor, the oppressed, the helpless, the disenfranchised, and the weak. You develop a determination to do your part to remedy the imbalance of resources that should sustain life for all of humanity, not just for the privileged few. You will find yourself taking the initiative to join God in His mission to relieve the oppression of poverty, abuse, or violence in your community until the day when Christ Jesus comes and justice overtakes evil, making a clean sweep of the Enemy’s stronghold.

BY THE LIGHT OF HIS FACE

We shall not turn back from You; give us life, and we will call upon Your name! Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let Your face shine, that we may be saved! ¬¬~ Psalm 80:18-19

About Jesus, John 1:4-5 (NLT) reports, “His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” The light of God’s love and salvation can never be quenched.

When you are lonely, draw near to the Lord and He will brighten your day. When sorrow tries to settle in around you and tempt you to feel discouraged, lost, or forgotten, read His Word and ask Him to illuminate your life. He will do it—He will speak to your heart and remind you that you are not alone.

When you encounter emotional clouds or rain, take a moment to ask God to light your way with his everlasting hope. He always answers the prayers of His children.

**********

Lord, illuminate my life with your unquenchable love and hope. I praise You that all fear and darkness flees when Your light shines on my heart. Amen.

GUARDING AGAINST EVIL

Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments and statutes according to all the law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through My servants the prophets. ~ 2 Kings 17:13

**********

This world is God’s creation, and it contains the wonderful fruits of His handiwork. But, the world also contains countless opportunities to stray from God’s will. Temptations are everywhere, and the devil, it seems, never takes a day off. Our task, as believers, is to turn away from temptation and to place our lives squarely in the center of God’s will.

In his letter to Jewish Christians, Peter offered a stern warning: “Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). What was true in New Testament times is equally true in our own. Evil is indeed abroad in the world, and Satan continues to sow the seeds of destruction far and wide. As Christians, we must guard our hearts by earnestly wrapping ourselves in the protection of God’s Holy Word. When we do, we are protected.

Holiness has never been the driving force of the majority. It is, however, mandatory for anyone who wants to enter the kingdom.

**********

Dear Lord, give me the wisdom to recognize evil and the courage to fight it, today and every day of my life. Amen.

BY GRACE

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:8-10

**********

Those who knew me before my step into faith might think I have been saved by the skin of my teeth. I just consider it a miracle. God, I know that there is nothing I have done to deserve the grace You have bestowed upon my life. My transformation is not merely a change of habits, attitudes, and philosophies. It is an inside-out change that can only be explained as the work of Your hand.

When people ask how I have been able to produce good works, I will not search for a list of things I have done to create such success. I need only point to You, my Creator and the Giver of all Grace.

AN AWESOME GOD

You shall fear the LORD your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.
~ Deuteronomy 5:13

**********

God’s hand shapes the universe, and it shapes our lives. God maintains absolute sovereignty over His creation, and His power is beyond comprehension. As believers, we must cultivate a sincere respect for God’s awesome power. God has dominion over all things, and until we acknowledge His sovereignty, we lack the humility we need to live righteously, and we lack the humility we need to become wise.

The fear of the Lord is, indeed, the beginning of knowledge. So today, as you face the realities of everyday life, remember this: until you acquire a healthy, respectful fear of God’s power, your education is incomplete, and so is your faith.

When true believers are awed by the greatness of God and by the privilege of becoming His children, then they become sincerely motivated, effective evangelists.

**********

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.
~ Proverbs 14:27

OPEN BOOK LIFE

We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says, “I know Him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ~ 1 John 2:3-4

**********

Do not gossip about others with one breath and proclaim that you are God’s child with the next. If you choose to be disrespectful to others, do not try to witness to them later. Your actions speak louder than your words.

Proclaiming your faith in God, but treating others badly shows that you haven’t really given your heart to God. Obeying the basic commands given in Scripture is evidence that you take your relationship with Christ seriously enough to change your actions. Don’t bother with the proclamations if your actions don’t back them up. ~ C. Larsen

LESSONS FROM THE STORM

We are pushed hard from all sides. But we are not beaten down. We are bewildered. But that doesn’t make us lose hope. Others make us suffer. But God does not desert us. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

**********
We would like to believe that if we do exactly what God requires, everything will always go smoothly. Not necessarily true. Sometimes following God can be inconvenient, difficult, even downright painful. Throughout history, many followers of God have experienced all sorts of trouble and persecution. God does not promise to bail us out of every uncomfortable situation. But He does assure us that He will be with us throughout our difficult times.

One day Jesus and His disciples crossed a large lake in a boat. During the trip, Jesus fell asleep. A sudden storm blew in with such intensity that the disciples were certain the boat would sink and they would drown. They woke up Jesus, who easily rebuked the storm. In moments, all was calm.

The lesson? Without the storm, they never would have experienced the truth: The Master of all nature was there in the boat with them. His name is Jesus.

In your time alone with God, bring to Him all your troubles—those things that concern and hurt you. Don’t hold anything back. In this way, you too will experience the truth. Jesus is here. His presence makes all the difference.
