A Journey of Faith and Inspiration:
My Time Coaching Devin Hester
As I reflect on my 15 years of recreation coaching football, basketball and baseball at Rivera Beach Parks and Recreation in Riviera Beach, Florida, I am filled with gratitude and humility. Watching Devin Hester receive his Hall of Fame induction and his gold jacket! “Eat your heart out Tiger”! It was a heavenly sent reward and moment. Hearing him credit me, Coach Gregory Ransom, as his inspiration is a moment that makes every challenge and triumph worth it.
Devin’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, dedication, and faith. From the early days on the field, it was clear that Devin possessed a unique talent and an unyielding spirit. But talent alone is not enough; it requires guidance, support, and a belief in something greater than ourselves.
I am deeply thankful to God for blessing me with the ability to coach and mentor young athletes like Devin. It is through His grace that I have been able to play a part in shaping their lives and helping them realize their potential. Every practice, every game, and every word of encouragement was a step in a journey guided by faith.
Devin’s success is not just a reflection of his hard work but also of the community that supported him. The Rivera Beach Parks and Recreation family, with its unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent, played a crucial role in his development. It is a reminder that we are all part of a larger plan, and our actions can have a profound impact on the lives of others.
As I look back, I am reminded of the countless moments of joy, struggle, and growth. Coaching is not just about teaching the game; it is about instilling values, building character, and fostering a sense of purpose. Devin’s achievements are a shining example of what can be accomplished when we trust in God’s plan and work together towards a common goal.
I am honored to have been a part of Devin’s journey and to witness his rise to greatness. His story is a beacon of hope and inspiration for all young athletes, showing that with faith in God Almighty, love for our Lord Jesus Christ with determination, and the right support, anything is possible.
Thank you, Devin, for allowing me to be a part of your life. And thank you, God, for the blessings and opportunities to make a difference. May we continue to inspire and uplift each other, guided by faith in God’s Word (Jesus) and love one another.
