"Because the flame rises upward, the term “ascent” is written regarding kindling the lamps, indicating that one must kindle them until the flame rises steadily on its own."
_—Rashi, Numbers 8: 2_

What a profound message!
It is not enough to just kindle the lamps: we must do so with the intention that every flame is enabled to rise steadily on its own.
This is the most sacred work a human being can do: to teach another to rise and burn on their own. This is empowerment at its best.

Let your flames rise upward, proud, steady, and strong. Now. And forever.

We usher in Shabbat by lighting candles: Not because life is free of storms, but because we choose light in the midst of them.

We don't just choose this some weeks. We choose this EVERY week.

Light Shabbat candles at 7:50pm in the West Palm Beach area.
As your candles glow this evening, remember: Every challenge is an invitation to grow, and every soul carries the strength to shine through the rain.

Shabbat Shalom!

Today, we usher in Shavuot, the Jewish holiday (beginning this evening, Thursday, May 21st at sundown, and concluding Saturday, May 23rd after nightfall) that celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai to every single Jew that ever was and ever will be.

And this changed everything! It fundamentally altered the relationship between G-d, humanity, and the physical world.
Before Sinai, spirituality and physicality were seen as separate realms. After Sinai, ordinary physical actions could become holy through mitzvot. A piece of leather could become Tefillin (Phylacteries). Food could become sacred through a blessing. Time itself could become holy through Shabbat and festivals.

Shavuot celebrates the connection between heaven and earth.
Holiness CAN live within everyday life.

Every soul still stands at Sinai, still being called toward light, love, and purpose.

*Today, light holiday candles at 7:45pm.
*Tomorrow, light Shabbat & holiday at 7:46pm.

Wishing you a Chag Same'ach!

“Freedom starts when fear ends.”

In this week’s Torah portion we read about the laws of Jewish servitude. The Torah tells us that in the Jubilee year, all workers are set free “for the children of Israel are servants to me”.
The verse seems paradoxical. Freedom is granted only because we are in lifelong servitude to G-d - this seems highly restrictive. In truth, however, our commitment to G-d gives us the ultimate freedom. When we are aligned with our soul, with our purpose, we are no longer slaves to our own egos, the social pressures around us, our image or our anxieties. Serving G-d is letting go of fear and leaning into true freedom.

Shabbat Candle lighting time in the West Palm Beach area is at 7:39pm.

Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom!

Today, the 14th of Iyar, is Pesach Sheini—"Second Passover". It commemorates the day when someone who was unable to bring the Passover offering at its appointed time was given the opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah exactly one month later. It's not just a date. It’s a personal message from Heaven: it’s not too late.

A second chance wasn’t an afterthought. It was written into our story from the very beginning.

Missed something? Drifted a little? Feeling distant?
You can always come back. It's never too late.

Take a moment. Eat a piece of matzah. Say a prayer.
Open a door you thought was closed. Your second chance is waiting for you.
